The Old Tolbooth

In the last 2 days a problem has occurred with my laptop. I can no longer click on a link that someones posted without the wee egg timer coming up permanently and freezing the page I'm looking at.

Normally with a non responsive programme I would just wait until it clears itself, but this never clears and I need to close down the window using ctrl+alt+del.

Anyone got any ideas as to why this would start happening whenever a link is clicked on?

I turned them off to see if it would make a difference Dex but so far it hasn't. It's mega frustrating.

I'm just waiting on someone posting a link to help me which I cant open :D

Good place to start would be re-installing your browser or moving to a different one to see if the problem is in the browser.

You might be riddled with adware/spyware.

Download a programme called Spybot Search & Destroy. Then start that up, run the updates, immunize and run a system scan.

Stop downloading dodgy porn is my advice.

Heh heh, dont judge everyone by your own standards WK :P

Tried that Craig but it wont let me copy the files to download Spybot, I think I need a good clean out.

Try

Start > Run > then type regsvr32 urlmon.dll

It says it succeeded, but what did it do?

For all I know I could have just blown up someones house in London
