Kickbacker's Help Required

Edinburgh Council has decided in it's well thought out wisdom that six community centres should be closed to save cash, I'm sure that all six provide a valuable resource to their communities, I however can only vouch for one and that is Longstone. It is used as an after school care facility and provides a youth club for kids of various ages. In closing this venue it takes away a well used care facility for working parents whose children attend Longstone Primary and a well attended Youth Club. Taking these away causes issues for all age groups and increases the possibility of vandalism and crime when there is nothing for the young to do. There is already an increased presence by the police youth officers in this area so anything that encourages anything positive for our youth has to be encouraged.

I have posted links to the Evening News story and also a link to a petition to save the centre.

I know that this issue may not impact many on kickback but there may come a time where the council decides to make changes in your area that impact you and your family and if the council see that the people of Edinburgh are unhappy at the decisions that they make, then they may decide to consult with residents before springing surprises on residents. I know that there are no unlimited funds but this is surely small potatoes in comparison to the Trams. Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated not only by me also by those who make use of this facility
