McJambo
For moving into your own house? Let's say you have a mortage of say 60,000 on a property in Edinburgh. How much would you need monthly to service that as well as the other bills that come with owning your own home. Everyone I know that owns a house seems a bit cagey when you ask about these kind of things! Cheers

Meadows
For ?60,000 in Edinburgh it would need to be a Wendy House... However, to try and help: Say a mortgage of ?80,000 Deposit of 10% ?8000 Legal Fees ?600 Survey ?275 registration fees ?200 Borrowing ?72000 on interest only approx ?400 per month depending on mortgage deal. Council Tax is approx ?100 per month (for ten months) Insurance contents & building ?60 per month Gas / Electric ?40 per month All figures are guesstimates and hopefully give you an idea;)

belly
I own a house but not in Edinburgh and my monthly outgoings (on an ?80,000 mortgage) are as follows: Mortgage: ?460 approx (for ?60,000 your looking at ?410-?440 on a capital repayment mortgage.) Council Tax: ?112 approx (10 months) Buldings and contents insurance: ?25 Phone and Broadband: ?35 Electricity: ?36 Gas: ?37 Tv License: ?12 Life Insurance for me and wife: ?39 Employment Insurance for myself : ?18 So all in all works out at roughly ?780 per month
Craig R
I take it you have other money to spend on the house other than the ?60k mortgage? You'd struggle to get a 1 bedroom flat in Muirhouse for that.

I'd also be moving in with someone else so obviously that doubles the amount to 120,000 + deposits!
