Caramac
Whilst there is only Cabinet level Minister covering this portfolio, there are another 3 Ministers in the DCMS with responsible for smaller areas. Ben Bradshaw MP is the Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport. Gerry Sutcliffe MP is the Minister for Sport. Except the UK Government isn't responsible for sports facilities in Scotland - that would be the job of the Scottish Government and Scottish local authorities
Caramac
Edinburgh Council are so flamin retarded that they would never go for such a worthy scheme... they'd much rather **** up the city and it's inhabitants by building a tramline to the arse end of nowhere... crippling the city financially in the process! God forbid the powers that be in Edinburgh actually do something useful for us... this city is in a mess and the council are haemoraging money at an alarming rate on 'white elephant' schemes with no useful purpose to the majority of the public that live here.... ... still they'll make the money back in parking fines i suppose. Only if idiots park where they shouldn't. Anyway we have the home of Scottish Rugby here, two of Scotland's top five football clubs and the second largest city in the country. If we can't collectively get together to put a Milan style stadium on the ground and instead have the wasteful pointlessness of three separate stadia, plus Meadowbank then frankly we deserve whatever we get. A bit like electorates and governments really.
Saint Jambo
Except the UK Government isn't responsible for sports facilities in Scotland - that would be the job of the Scottish Government and Scottish local authorities Indeed, but the post I was replying to referred to the UK Government. I did mean to include the following info, but obviously got distracted. In the Scottish Government, it is the responsibility of the Minister for Public Health and Sport (currently Shona Robison) who does not sit in the Scottish Cabinet. The Cabinet post reported in to is the Cabinet Secretary for Health & Wellbeing. This almost certainly gives sports a lesser voice in the Scottish Cabinet than in the UK Cabinet (although DCMS is not exactly hughly influential). It also means the focus is likely to be on sport for health reasons, rather than other benefits. If we can't collectively get together to put a Milan style stadium on the ground and instead have the wasteful pointlessness of three separate stadia, plus Meadowbank then frankly we deserve whatever we get. Agree entirely.
