Yeh, 1 road sign per child to act as a sledge OR 1 barrier per child to act as a snowboard. Then tie a rope to the back of your car, tell the kids to hold on, and you drive. The tyre thing is also great for picnics. We used to take the kids to the upper reaches of the Clyde and they would float around on the tubes.
