This is purely for a bit of research, I don't want it to turn into a haha I've got more money than you debate and wasn't expecting exact figures from posters.

Thanks

Yeah, well sort of.

It's something I want to investigate on the back of a discussion at work.

I'm on a student placement with a company up here and some of the people in my team were shocked at what the minimum wage was and that people got paid such low amounts.

I think it could be just because it's Aberdeen and it's in a bubble but maybe not, maybe I should expect more?

If anyone is willing to disclose then that's fine but I think that it could get a bit ugly if that happened.

As mentioned I'm a student so would usually be earning just part time wages (used to work at a supermarket though). This year it's closer to the 20k mark but that won't last, back to being poor again next year.

I'm curious as to the 8 jobs that pay over 60k a year but still let you sit on jkb during normal work hours?

You'll find alot of exec jobs involve a fair amount of "dossing about". I know one or two in the financial sector who take home more than that but work about 4 hours a day.

HaHa....hang on in there CB. You will find out later in life that typically the less you do, the more you get paid.

I work for a US based microelectronics company and am basically my own boss (my real boss is in California). So, yeah, I can spend countless hours trawling t'internet or just sit picking my nose. I do have to work sometimes, e.g. last week Valencia, next week Treviso. In my defence, I am a qualified engineer and have 30 years experience in high tech industries.

Choose your buisiness sector carefully, Public service pays sh*t, unless you are high up the tree. High tech, Bio-Pharmaceutical and Oil & Gas are best paid, but the best of all is to have your own business.

Good luck

I work in sales, and although it varies i'm disappointed if I earn anything under 950 per week, before tax.

Hope you are not 1 of those male escorts mentioned earlier and its your ass you are selling:10900:

Only joking what is it you actually sell as thats pretty decent money you are making.

i work for a small company and it's really good so i am happy to accept a bit less than perhaps i could earn elsewhere. then the credit crunch happened and suddenly the job market sways violently in favour of the employers so you tend to suddenly lose the (perhaps deluded) perception that you're doing your employer a massive favour.

i just hope i am suitably compensated with my usual christmas bonus and pay rise.

surprising spread of results i think.

If I worked a straight year with no overtime or standby I'd be on around ?28k.

OT etc. can boost my wage big time. But that just depends on circumstance!

unfortunately, the govt take a chunk of it.

The bed of money is actually quite small, and it hurts to roll about on a bed of quarters and dimes.

Central heating systems.

Do you force sell them onto pensioners who don't know any better?

That's what I'd do, that's where the real money is.

I get between 3.5k-4k.

But that's mainly down to working part-time about 12 hours a week, due to being at Uni.
