Had ?5 on Mon Mome in the National at 159/1 on Betfair for the National, that made me a happy bunny as I'd just moved into my house and needed a big new telly.

Got kicked out a casino one night for arguing with the croupier. The ball was spinning on the ol' roulette, put ?100 on the table and stated "3 and 15 by 5, 0 by 10", call bets had NOT been said, then the ball plings its way into 0, I'm due a fortune, the croupier states my bet wasn't on in time. I lost the rag, asked them to play back their video, they were having none of it. Chancers of the highest order.

Lost ?400 one night when I was drunk. Never fun.

Me likey the gamblin!!

I dont get involved, I would kill myself when I realised just how much money I had been spunking up the wall. Id be gutted. Mates of mine have lost so much money at the bookies and at casinos though. They usually go to the casino after a drink thinking they are the dogs baws and wake up in the morning to an empty wallet. They have won in the past, but as you would expect they lose their winnings later on in the night by getting sucked in.

It wasn't I'm afraid, was my own betting. Had ?5 on it the year before along with Dun Doir, so decided this year to back tghem both again. Dun Doir didn't run, so my only bets were Mon Mome and Black Apalachi. I do notice your tips on here though, post some myself but not always successful. Actually put ?5 on Mon Mome for the Hennesy the same time I took Denman but doubtful it will run.

There should be a Horse racing Sticky thread in the Shed for betting men such as ourselves. Mods, get on it!

You get your bet on Denman for the Hennesy? 12lb is a lot to have over the nearest and dearest but can't see it getting beat if the ground is on the soft side.

Aha! That pint must be warm by now mate!!

I had PM's from about 5 folk after tipping that up, and then proceeded to bang my head against the wall for going off it on the day and not backing the damn beastie!

Still, I reckon it's the best priced tip ever given on JKB :10900:

I haven't backed it yet mate, there are a few soft ground specialists in the race and it's to be treated with caution, especially seeing as Nicholls horses have mostly needed a run before stripping a bit fitter, although he sounds very bullish about his chances which is always a good thing, he wasn't as bullish about Kauto's chances last weekend even although he won. (did you see the photie, I thought Imperial Commander won it to be honest)

I thought the same to be honest, at the very least it should have been a dead heat.

Was encouraged by Kauto's run though, as I haven't known him to run on ground as soft that that (heavy in places) so feel better about Denmans chances based on what Kauto achieved. Nicholls is talking him up big licks, and I am definately happier that Ruby is taking charge over Sam Thomas, who I've never really taken a shine to.

Just hoping that he is back to his best. ?15 at 6.4 would make me happy. Getting evens on Denman to place the now on Betfair as well, which seems like a good cover bet incase he doesn't win.

I'll wait until the day of the race before backing him, making sure he runs. I hate doing my cash on ante post non runners. Evens the place seems like free money to me though, I'll be having some of that!

On a night out I would keep a tenner back to go to the casino. Basically to sober up so most I've won, blackjack only, ?65. Most I've lost, only once lost, ?10.

Most I've ever won at the casino was ?210. Most lost, probably about ?30-40.

I did make ?150 in the casino at a JKBers recent stag do though. Made even better by the fact that I borrowed the initial ?20 down, as the cash machine there was broken.

I once saw a mate go ?1100 up at the casino, then lose it all in the next hour. He probably could have done with the cash then as well.

I woke up one afternoon with a massive headache and no recollection from the night before from after about 11pm. Went to get my towel from my wardrobe and found on my shelve a wad of ?50 notes in one of those plastic bank things, to the sum of ?1400. Phoned my mate to ask what had gone on and had been apparently playing Roulette ?200 a spin on Red or Black:th_o:

Its about The only positive story I have about Roulette, And lost about 5 times the amount i won that night in the 12months after it. I havent played since, Though I still lose regularly at the bookies and poker:stuart:

Most I've won in one night is around ?950, had a few wins quite close to that too.

Most lost in a night about ?350.

I'm a fairly keen gambler as many of you will know and my net winnings from this year will probably be more than my net salary for the year.

Most I have won was around ?750 on a golfer with a tenner e/w bet.

Came close to winning over ?800 on an accumulator on the Euros last year, but the Czech Republic fecked it all up by losing to Turkey.

i used to be a dealer in the old stakis casino and saw some scary amounts of money being lost, so i'm not much of a gambler. i'll play with ?20 or 30 if i'm in a casino, but never more than i can afford to lose as i agree that gambling is a mugs game if you ain't clever about it.

i do like a wee flutter on the national though, and this year was i think the first year ever i never won a thing!!

my mum had a bit of luck on the lottery though. won a few times on the irish lottery, but took ?7000 on the thunderball game once.

Won a grand earlier in the season from a ?50 bet in the CIS Cup. It was all on teams to win by more than a goal and it was all SPL teams against lower league.

All teams won on the Tuesday night and it was down to the Hobos to beat Brechin at Fester Road. Riordan scored twice early and they ended up winning 3-0, so I suppose for at least once in their life they were useful. Guess it ended up being a win-win situation for me. They got me the money and then got horsed in the next round :2thumbsup:

Most iv ever won on a roulette machine is about ?200, most iv lost is about ?30. Dont gamble that often, which is a good thing I suppose.

I can walk away easily, but a few of my mates are real bad for it, losing **** loads when they have been up a few hundred, and it doesn't seem to bother them.

Bad enough losing a tenner, never mind hundred of pounds..

I hate horse racing a part from the national, well I don't even watch that. I've had one each way come in, Durham Edition, and it took me 39 years to win it with Eldersliegh House, or something like that. So I've got another 32 years to wait for another winner.

The only real gambling I do is eat out of roadside vans.

Ade the Jambo

Business assignment close out with (Can't say) to Gibralter, taken for dinner then casino we were all bunged ?25 chips to lose which I promptly did until last chip shoved on 27 and it came up - time to quit and recognise this is not my world! Funniest part was an equally naive colleagues but he could not resist delivering a running commentary on the fortunes of another gambler - clearly in relative terms a high roller - at the table - like every time another ?100 chip went on each of three numbers, there would be an audible gasp, ooooohing sound as the wheel spun then some other audible reaction to the win / lose situation. Fortunately the punter also seemed to think it was amusing so we didn't have to worry about the minders outside..

Most I've won was about ?550 on roullette at Maybury. Had ?5 on zero twice, double spin. Then ?25 on 0 neighbours for the third spin and in came 32.

Lost ?360 chasing on roullette in one night but.

Went to Powderhall many moons agowith ?3.50 in my pocket.

Had a winner in nearly every race and even got the quinella (sp?)

The quinella winner - well, I bottled it and split a ?1 ticket into ten. One 10p ticker paid ?28.00. was a very merry night that night.

On the downside , I went to the National the year Seagram won. On the final bend I had :

The leader (can't remember its name now) :10900:, with the biggest bet I've ever had.:hat2:

Auntie Dott in 2nd , backed each way at 33-1:10900:

In 3rd Seagram , which I've got in the office sweep.

Life couldn't be sweeter.:10900::10900::10900:

And then ****ing Seagram , the smallest horse to win the ****ing National just kept on coming. :43::43::43: I lost a lot of money that day.:57:

Vegas 2003, Around $4,500 followed by a $700 loss quick style the following morning, quickly spent most of what was left in the shopping areas in the Venetian and Ceasers before flying home...PHEW it wss a close escape as it would have been oh so easy to have blasted the lot that morning

Correct.

My biggest win in one day has been ?250. My biggest loss on a number of days has been ?600, resulting in me taking the maximum amount from my two cashline cards.

It can be. It's all about control. In my wayward days I won a fair bit of money gambling one evening and promptly gambled it all away again. I decided that day that it was probably better looking for other vices. :smiley2: I haven't gambled anything serious since then. If you're smart, you know when to say "stop", and know where to spot the good bets, then you can do quite well. However not many people actually fit into this category, and sadly gambling has wrecked countless lives.

I have only put on a handful of bets in my life. One Grand National win with my own money (Hedgehunter at 10-1, won 30 quid). I once put an accumulator on Barcelona (European Cup), Celtic (SPL), St. Johnstone (First Division) and Gretna (Second Division), maybe Chelsea for Premiership. I was due to win a fair amount (700 sheets or the like). I think 4 of these things came to pass.

Formula to whatever your mate says to you about winning or loosing money through gambling=

Winning money

take the said amount 'x' and half it

x times 1/2= amount won

Loosing money

take the said amount 'x' and double it

x times 2= amount lost

Same day as Hearts lost their 22 game unbeaten run against the wee team.

Must have been the only jambo drinking Moet that night.

Also got 20 /1 that Hearts would finish above them in the league a few years back, won ?200.

Stampy was responsible for a memrorable win when he scored the winner at ER ,had ?10 on them HT us FT , and ?5 correct score .

Usually only have a bet on a Saturday, If I lose ?20 then its not a big deal.
