Stopping over there for half a day before continuing onto Edinburgh, wonder if anyone has any suggestions for something to do in Gerona? (wont be worth going to Barcelona and back as i only have about 6 hours).

In half a day you can wander along the Onyar river through the centre of town, visit the baroque cathedral, then climb up onto the old ramparts and walk along the well-preserved city wall for fantastic views across the town and surrounding countryside. You'll probably also have enough time for a spot of lunch or afternoon beer in one of the cafes in the Rambla de la Llibertat.

As you say, the OP will not be stuck for things to do and see there. I always recommend that people who are staying a few days in Barcelona make a point of visiting Gerona during their trip, as it is very historical and beautiful and provides a perfect contrast to the big city. (But, then again, I don't like Barcelona much...! :curtain:)
