wibble
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/nov/13/falluja-cancer-children-birth-defects Pretty hideous effects on newborn babies. Supporters of the war would do well to realise that the same depleted uranium that is probably causing these birth defects will also affect the British and American troops and their offspring (assuming they come back with their nuts intact). BlackJAC?
pretty much every major power that's been to war in the last few decades have used depleted uranium to some extent, so it's nothing new. Doesn't make it right, but lets not make it sound like it's a US/UK only tactic. Then you have **** like fuel air bombs (Russian) and Daisy cutters that have been used in Chechnya and iraq respectively that are every bit as bad, if not more so, than the type you mentioned. Hickups
Its the same in Palestine. The Hamas Health Ministry is claiming that since the Israel Defense Forces operation in Gaza last winter, a higher percentage of children have been born with birth defects, the Ma'an news agency has reported. According to Dr. Muweiyah Hassenein, head of the ministry's ambulance and emergency department, "we have found cases among newborn babies involving heart defects and brain abnormalities." The report, which was published by Ma'an in September, quotes Hassenein as saying that the higher number of birth defects is a result of "Israel's use of internationally prohibited weapons against the civilians of Gaza." According to the Ma'an article, some researchers have alleged "Israel used the Dense Inert Metal Explosive (DIME) as well, which could cause biological effects on fetuses." The ministry says they haven't received confirmation that IDF ordnance caused the birth defects, and that the group is waiting for the results of examinations performed in European labs. http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1120032.html Another Link shows how lead can cause Birth defects. http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0005330 Lead in ammunition might be the cause. wibble
If we were to listen to people like you we would never go to war!! Yeah, we'd have to spend all that money on schools, hospitals, libraries, new roads, better public transport, better, cheaper broadband to make business and education more efficient. It's a very difficult choice to make. Kill smelly people in backward countries or make our own lives so much better.
