There's always a thread on betting, whether it's football, horse racing or boxing related and it got me thinking. How much does each person gamble on an average week?

I'm probably spending between ?5-?10 per week.

Poll to follow....

Used to spend way too much on gambling, stopped last November and was surprised how much I used to spend. I went back to the coupon's at the start of the season and spend no more than ?5 per week now. Had an ?800 win at the start of the season, so was pretty chuffed with that.

How much was way too much if you don't mind me asking?

Not at all mate, probably between ?30-?50 per week. I added it up and it was nearly ?200 a month which is pretty shocking, especially with a young family, so stopped completely.

Fair play - I used to gamble more, mainly on trebles and occ the horses but just a ?5 treble each week now.

The only time I'd ever spend more than a fiver on a horse etc, was when it was the Cheltenham festival, or I had won a wedge prior to it.

I now don't bother much with the horses, as I'm useless at picking stuff. I occassionally go with the odd tip that Mitchell throws my way, but apart from that, I stick to a 7 or 8 team accumulator each week.

Don't gamble much myself, always football though. Spent 2 pound today. Most I've ever put on is a tenner. Maybe bet 5-6 times a season.

Say What Again

Usually spend about ?20 a week. Lost ?25 yesterday with a ?20 single on Ipswich and a ?5 first goal scorer.

Biggest bets I've had are 2 x ?100 bets (both lost) and ?240 on Zagreb to beat us in the first leg - which returned ?420

There was no option for my situation, as my answer is not one penny. I used to put a few quid each year on the Grand National but stopped that too a long time ago.

I usually do a couple of lucky 15's on a Saturday. ?1 and a 50p ew. So there's ?30.

If there's a horse running I fancy during the week I'll back it but I'm a weekend gambler.

Normally between ?10-?15 on the football and around ?30-?40 on the horses each week. Never really win on the football but do well on the old GGs so keeps me going.

?5-?10

It's usually one one ?5 bet a week. Which I've only one once this season at a whopping return of ?30 (woo) but usually if I want midweeks games to gain more significance I'll chuck on another accumulator. But as it's only ?1-?2 I tend to go for longer odds which never have a hope of coming in.

I am a cursed gambler. I am very ****e at picking winners and have only done so three times this season. That would be a good ratio if it wasn't for the fact that two of them I picked came in after I was unable to put the bet on. Costing me ?90 and ?55 respectively.

I was also going to stick a ?5 on Unirea but changed my mind at the last minute with odds of 4/1.

Around ?5-?10.

Maybe a little more if I was to win a decent amount. Normally take out a multiple of ?5 then put the rest of the money on another bet.

I've just started putting coupons on this season - pretty good fun tbf.

Probably ?3-?4 a week. Not bank breaking stuff.

My grandad was a book maker, so gambling isn't really in the blood. I guess he seen a lot of people lose a lot of money.

Nothing. Now living in a place where there are no walk-in bookies or casinos, and I've never got into interweb betting.

Just out of interest Carl, did he run an independent bookmakers in Edinburgh?

I only ask because my Dad had a couple of his own bookies in years gone by, and chances are myself or my Dad might know him.

So far this week i have spent ?50 at the bookies, mainly on horses! I had a big win last tuesday, and since then everything has went down hill. But today i was advised by a friend to bet 2 horses- Solway Ally running at aintree 3.55 at 50/1 (it finished 3rd) and Solway Sam running at Aintree 4.30 at 33/1 (it finished 1st) but due to losing so much money in the last week i decided not to back them, i cant beileve it! The odd's were tremendous!

He did and then sold up to one of the big companies, and worked for them. This would have been a long time ago and I don't even know where his shop was, tbh.

He's in his late 70's now and is a keen golfer.
