Im sure it was a grocer shop that was situated next door to Corrie primary School, in the high street. Rememeber when i was 5or 6 going in and getting my sweets. Think 4 sweets for an old penny. Thats right Towzer, think he stayed in Dovecot Rd next to St Maggies park. The place i spent my summer hols playing footie. My dad knew him quite well too. On the counter he had a a tray that was for your change and it was made of glass with toffees behind it. The toffees would have been from the early 1940's by my reckoning. Used to have a good range of sweets that were 4 for a penny. Little chocolate footballs, sherbet UFOs, stuff like that. My Granny lived up the lane at the side of his shop.
