Walter Bishop
Had a wee disagreement in the pub tonight about the old numbering on strips. I said i can remember taking my favourite strips when i was younger (silver mita, the bukta with the collar and the shiny Bukta one) to topsport)i think it was called this?) on gorgie road and getting number Robbo`s no.11 printed on them. My mate then proceeded to laugh and say why 11 because Robbo wore 9!!!!!! ?20 riding on this. (Been hunting for photographic evidence aswell!!) Paisley Jambo
When Sandy Clark was about from late 1984 until 1988 ish Robbo wore 11 because Sandy wore 9. On his return from Newcastle and in the 1990's I'm not so sure.
JamboMarc
I was too young to remember most of the Robbo days but I thought he wore number 9.
John
i think he mostly wore the number 9 and 11, if pushed, i'd say he wore 11 more than any other number.
Bruno
i started following hearts in 90-91 and he wore 11 from then up til 93-94 when he changed to 9. i think. i was only wee at the time, but he was my favourite player and i got a 9 on the back of my 93-94 strip in his honour. Jimmy McNulty
Certainly, the day we "won" the league at Tannadice, he had 11 on his back. He did wear more than one number.
Geoff Kilpatrick
Robbo also wore 7, 8 and 10 on occasions but 11 in the early days and 9 in the latter days are the numbers he is most associated with. Although he departed HMFC with a No 15 strip on a never to be forgotten day!
The Real Maroonblood
Was it not number 22 ?
chesser13
Around 1984-85 time, he wore 8. I had the home top around that time and had that printed on the back!!!
bighusref
"mostly" is difficult to tell IMO. I do recall him wearing every number from 7 onwards though.

4marsbars
I have a theory that the reason he wore 11 a lot was so that Scott Wilson could read out his name last when announcing the team, and he was guaranteed to get the biggest cheer. Clearly, the position he played was number 9 (but Sandy Clark, when around, probably pulled rank on him). Does anyone like my theory?

Walter Bishop
Clark, Musemic(ffs!) and Baird all wore 9 around mid-late 80`s and early 90`s.
Dusty
From memory.... He wore 8 around 84 He wore 11 under Joe Jordan (Crabbe 7, Baird 9, Robbo 11) and under Alex MacDonald at times - certainly when playing with Clark etc He wore 7 too but this must have been when Colquhoun wasn't there - Crabbe used to wear 10 also. He wore 9 many times latterly then 15! Varies TBH!! Sorry!

albishop
I always remember Keny Black as No.8 *shudder* Only because Iain Jardine was always injured! What a shot Iain had though!
