Goalpoachers......

And it looks like we have a few players who have that "Universality"

Johnson, Karapidis, Thompson, (dare I say) Nade, Palazuelos, Aguiar, Glen all seem to have the flexibility to play in different areas of the pitch. Reduces our need to rely on people who can only play in one specialised position

Downside is are we more of a Newcastle , who are not good enough to achieve the neccessary control and need to rely on a poacher? I prefer to think we have moved on from that situation and can now succeed using a more fluid system.

Time will tell.

Jose Mourinho pointed out. "I can't believe that in England they don't teach young players to be multi-functional," he said. "To them it's just about knowing one position and playing that position. To them a striker is a striker and that's it. For me, a striker is not just a striker. He's somebody who has to move, who has to cross, and who has to do this in a 4-4-2 or in a 4-3-3 or in a 3-5-2."

Never a truer word.

Puts the "We need a striker" calls in perspective. People saying that - You are out of date, relics!

I always thought Owen would be pretty much finished by the time he was 25 as speed was his main plus point yet he had dodgy hamstrings.

Toxteth O'Grady

Do you often read the Malaysian Insider Charlie?:mw_rolleyes:

Maybe poachers who don't contribute much else have gone out of favour but natural finishers are still worth their weight in Gold.

What is it about sticking the ball in the net that is so difficult for a lot of players?
