droid Posted January 20, 2009 Share Posted January 20, 2009 laptop taking an absolute age to start up when i switch on (about ten minutes)remember seeing a similar thread ages ago any have any tips. think peple mentioned the something to do with the start up icons before??? Swanny17 Posted January 20, 2009 Share Posted January 20, 2009 Go to start, run, type msconfig. Choose selective startup. Uncheck top 2. Go to services tab, hide all microsoft services. Uncheck services related to iTunes etc which you do not want to kick in a boot up, but leave any firewall/anti-virus boxes ticked. Do likewise for the startup tab. Apply, and reboot laptop. Say okay to MSConfig box which will appear, but also check box to choose not to show again. Go to my computer, right click C Drive, properties and select disk clean up to clear cookies, temp files etc. Then go to the tools tab and defrag your disk. This may help to some extent....
