it is a bit of an overlooked classic and there should really be some sort of campaign to reintroduce songs like this at tynie.

let's have an official silvery moon match, as organised by JKB.

This song isnt a forgotten classic, just depends where you sit at tynie!

Indeed. It gets a regular section N/P airing.

Or as the group of folk around me were singing the backing bit in brackets was replaced by " Hibs are ****e! Hibs are ****e!" :D

i also think this is a very good song to sing - especially after scoring - what better message to give the opposition (players, fans, staff etc!).

was this taken from quadrophenia (we are the mods etc)?

I love this tune also. I actually mentioned on a thread on Sunday morning that I was hoping it would be sung. Some thread called "underrated songs" or something similar.

Brilliant song, I very much enjoyed it. :)

I forever associate it with my first trip to Easter Road aged 9, the McQuade-O'Connor 2-1 game in Nov 1978. It was the first time I had heard it. I have a vivid memory of singing it along with thousands of other Jambos walking up Easter Road after the match.

This might sound a bit glib but when it was sung on Sunday that match immediately sprung to mind and I knew, then and there, that we were going to win.

You do hear some folk singing that song now and then but Sunday was the first time in a long time I can remember a few thousand singing it. I agree that its a quality song.

When I started going to games in the early eighties the old Shed used to sing a version of Sweet Molly Malone which ended with the line "as she wheeled her wheelbarrow, through streets long and narrow singing clap,clap,...clap,clap,clap,......clap,clap,clap,clap - Jam Tarts"!!

Carl Weathers

I just found this on a Murderwell forum - I've never heard them sing it.

By the light (by the light, by the light)

Of the silvery moon (silvery moon, silvery moon)

We f***** the boys (f***** the boys, f***** the boys)

We f***** the boys in maroon (4-2, 3-0)

To the tune of By the Silvery Moon

Angriest fans in the SPL. They're weird. Their hatred for Robbie Neilson also amuses me.

Back to the OP and it's a great song. First heard it in Bordeaux and loved it. I sing the (Hibs are ****e) addon, cos well, they are.

Perhaps we should change the words, temporarily at least, to something along the lines of:

By the leap (by the leap, by the leap)

Of the silvery trout....
