Top 6 Goals

If you look at the games against the likely top 6 candidates I think it's very evident that our lack of goals are going to cost us big time come the end of the season.

2 games v Celtic - 1 goal (They have scored 3)

2 games v Aberdeen - 1 goal (They have scored 2)

2 games v D.Utd - 0 goals (They have scored 3)

2 games v Rangers - 2 goals (They have scored 3)

1 game v Hibs - 1 goal (They have scored 1)

So 9 games and just 5 goals (We have lost 12). Says it all really.

Surely it's only evident that our lack of goals have cost us dropped points in some of these matches? Teams & players could be quite different come the end of the transfer window and the 2nd half of the season could be quite different to the 1st half - better or worse, and that applies to all teams.

Drylaw Hearts

I'll use the same 3 words that I've used since last Season ended......

We need Strikers !!!!

We need 2 if not 3 Strikers to sign next month and the following must be transferred :

Nade

Makela

Tullberg

Mole

Elliot

2 goals for Hearts in the first 5 months of this Season is not acceptable.

Have we found some buyers for these strikers?

Crystal Palace want Nade but can't afford him as Simon Jordan is trying to sell the club. We should offer him to them on a 5 month loan deal with a view to buy.

Makela should have his contract bought out and released.

Tullberg should have his loan cancelled.

Mole should either be sent out on loan or released.

Elliot - see above.

We currently have the most inept 'strikeforce' I've ever seen at Hearts.

Update.

5 goals in 10 games. 8pts out of 30.

No striker is costing us massively.

Sure - we desperately need one or two. But this is a long-term process, very reminiscent of Levein's early time here in my view. His United side are a year to 18 months ahead of us in terms of development; Aberdeen are always there or thereabouts under Calderwood. At present, I think exactly what I did preseason: that it'll be desperately close between us and the sheep for 4th, and would even view 5th as relatively satisfactory given what Csaba inherited. Levein was 5th in his first full season here - as, indeed, he was in his first full season at Tannadice.

The wage bill needs to be slashed, and key players will be sold. Whether we're able to maybe loan in a decent striker or two remains to be seen; alternatively, the likes of Glen may enable Csaba to make a virtue out of a necessity. The most important thing is for the club to be run properly, with everyone pulling in the same direction: Csaba is exactly the sort of figure Vlad was looking for for years (partly for his dedication and professionalism, partly because he clearly won't have much say in who's sold), and I'm quite prepared to accept a transitional season or two if it gradually gets us where we want to be.
