Rawrrrrrrr
http://www.soccerway.com/news/2008/December/11/lyons-cris-and-juninho-fined-by-uefa-for-deliberate-bookings Seems a bit unfair, surely just good tactics How do you prove something was deliberate anyway, Lyon surely have to appeal and win. Guest GhostHunter
What position to the Lyon players actually hold though. I contend that if they dont hold positions, then the fines are illegal and should be quashed by the European Court of Sports Injuries and Physiotherapists. loveofthegame
Ridiculous that they were fined.
Boris
It's not in the spirit of the game, so I can understand why UEFA have done this. That doesn't mean they are right to do so though.

Spellczech
How is it different from any other "tactical", "clever" or "professional" foul that gets a booking? There are rules to the game, and people are always subject to rules so why not play the rules when the opportunity is there?
marshallschunkychicken
It's a dangerous road to start going down, as it's pushing the concept of implied intent to fairly extreme levels. My opinion may be coloured by the fact that Lyon are my adopted French team though.
alwaysthereinspirit
Miko was banned for diving and didn't even get a yellow at the time. UEFA morons.
Captain Canada
The referee should have been aware of this and just chosen to send them off instead - filthy cheats!
AndyMcI
Depnding on how you interprete the last paragraph of the article "The two Brazilians had said after the match in Italy to have worked it that a third yellow card would purge a suspension meaning they started again at zero for next year's last 16 knockout stage, knowing Lyon had already qualified." If the were they stupid enough to admit in public they deliberatly cheated the fines are their own fault.

Yes, while playing for England. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/internationals/blatter-demands-fa-meeting-over-beckhams-deliberate-booking-543605.html
Wattie
It's loose change to those two though, I doubt they'll be all that bothered about the money.
