Charlie-Brown

Walter Smith & David Murray ie Rangers have squandered more money on more diddies than anyone else but if they win some trophies then people tend to overlook the scattergun approach in the transfer market & just how many tens of millions have been spent on these players.

Because Murray uses most of the Scottish Journo's chins as bollock rests.

You owe me a new computer screen now..... :D

The weedgie press hyped it up because of the name EDU.

Unfortunately for Rangers it wasnt actually an EDU that anyone had ever heard of but the completely unheard of and unherald Maurice EDU.

Apparently in the transfer window they will be bidding for Colin Ronaldo and Geoff Kaka!!!!

To be fair Edu is highly rated in America. I think what Walter is doing is trying to break these players slowly into the first team, they are new to Scottish football. The spanish boy Arron has only just made his debut, and will play more reguarly over the coming week.

But there is always hyperbole when a player is signed by or chased by the of.

Edu was drafted first overall coming out of university, and had a good first season as a rookie at Toronto. He went off the boil a bit in his second season, mostly due to the team changing formation, and him struggling to find his position in it. I think he's a long ways off getting into the midfield for Rangers, but wouldn't be too far from being able to play in some other teams in the SPL. He says in the article that the pace and physicality of Scottish football has taken some getting used to.

What the press hasn't been saying is that it was Toronto Director of Football Mo Johnston who sold Edu to Rangers for 5 million US$. Edu is definitely not the finished article, but I have a hard time figuring out how he is going to develop further sitting in the stand for Rangers (like so many others). He needs competitive games. He's fit and can tackle, but needs to develop his passing and vision.

1) Rangers and Celtic are relatively successful

2) Their signings do not lead them into serious financial trouble

3) A former OF player has a decent sell on value, succesful or failure

4) They dont try and rub scottish football authorities/media up the wrong way.

5) They actually pick their team based on skill and ability

6) Once Edu is ready he will get a chance and not be dumped in the reserves cos of an appearence fee.

But no its all a conspiracy.....:mw_rolleyes:

One does wonder how they secured a WP for him...

Is he going to be a first team player? Well erm no... maybe in a few years when the 38 year old currently in his position finally retires...

Will he enhance the SPL with his abilities? Well erm no, maybe the reserve league, but not the SPL

Ok, Great, here you go Walter, have another WP. See you next transfer window with another dud that you want to give a wage to.
