20.59% of Hearts games he referees, we lose a man.

If it's not too much trouble, do you know what our average games to red cards percentage is from the last few seasons?

I'll do the figures but need to split it into 'eras' as we didn't have a player sent off from 1944 to 1962. And only 4 in the 60s.

3-Nov-1934 L Div One Queen Of The South 3-1 Palmerston Park 7000 Massie

11-Apr-1942 LC Rangers 0-2 Tynecastle 16000 Christie

8-Apr-1944 LC Motherwell 1-3 Fir Park 5000 Phillip

30-Oct-1962 L Div One Falkirk 0-2 Brockville Park 3371 Barry

8-Jun-1965 F Sportsklub Brann 2-0 Bergen 15700 Kerrigan

17-Sep-1966 L Div One Airdrieonians 1-1 Tynecastle 7063 Anderson

16-Nov-1968 L Div One Dundee United 2-4 Tannadice Park 7914 Jensen

28-Mar-1970 L Div One Celtic 0-0 Tynecastle 27690 Townsend

[17-Sep-1966 L Div One Airdrieonians 1-1 Tynecastle 7063[/url] Anderson

My memory's probably playing tricks but I could have sworn that Anderson's sending off was against St. Johnstone, and in a game that we won 1-0.

Does anyone else remember?

It was also a game where the opposition had a man sent off (in a separate incident). I had no idea sendings off were quite so rare.

Regarding McDonald, he was a curate's egg on Saturday. Seemed to interact well with players the way they do in rugby, and was mostly in control. Amazingly fussy about some things. Wallace's second booking was a clear yellow. But I couldn't see why he was booked the first time, a decision that was (once again) made by the assistant ref (how I saw it anyway).

Wallace has now been booked three times in two games. Yet compared with the hefty challenges we've seem in these games, mainly from the opposition, he's hardly been the dirtiest man afield.

Seeing as we're going to get the record disciplinary fine in January can we request the money in channelled in to training up some competent referees?

A guy at work who is also a ref said he was talking to Graham Chambers, Saturday's Wheatfield-side assistant. Was told that MacDonald was delighted that Hearts had won such a high profile match with him in charge...

...Perhaps his record may have been beginning to weigh on him?

Saturday's Wheatfield-side assistant.

Ahh right, the blind sod yeah? Didnt have the bottle to call a decision the entire game.

I've checked London Hearts and think they have got this one wrong.

Alan Anderson's sending off was against St. Johnstone in a 1-0 victory on 11 Feb 1967.

Source: my memory.

Can anyone corroborate this? (I know it to be true)

I would think you are right. Our stats from 1951 to 1970 are based mainly on Gritty Gallant and Glorious which has lots of 'minor errors' it it. The pre 1951 stats are based on the reports in the SDA.

Post 1970 Rothmans is another source (with errors too)

Post 1996 I've been collecting them myself. Again there are errors in Newspaper and online reports.

I can't remember the St Johnstone one, but I do remember seeing tv Highlights of a Falkirk v Hearts match (1970ish?) when he was sent off for a cracking punch on a Falkirk player. Sparked off some fights on the terracing IIRC. Think Falkirk may have won 2-0.

I was on that terracing (funny bridge arrangement separating the fans) but only vague memories of a punch, though I do remember the place was in uproar because of an incident right on half-time.

I think George Miller was in the Falkirk team.

28-Nov-2004 L SPL Rangers 2-3 Ibrox 48494

I remember this game well.

De vries is hacked down by the last man in the penalty box after just a few minutes. Gives the penalty but only gives a booking to the Rangers defender to the suprise of all of the 50,000 inside Ibrox that day.

Dougie MacDonald - You are a ****ing cheat!

He's a rampant Gers fan. He's given up on being a grade 1 ref and settled for being an assistant. Apparently some of his decisions against Celtic and for Rangers in reserve and U19 games when he was coming through were very dodgy.

mcdonald is a cheating hibs barsteward, he takes great delight in reducing us to ten men, he maybe got the big decisions right on sat, but he never even contemplated sending any huns off, irespective if he should have, he's a cheat, plain and simple

The Old Tolbooth

I might be wrong when I say this, but is that the 3rd game in a row he's been in charge that we've won

ICT 1-0

Hamilton 1-0

Rangers 2-1

It's still only 4 in 23 or 24 though :P

To be fair you'd have to do it only during MacDonalds time as a ref.
