bighusref
Alison GoldfrappLiz Fraser Jenny Lewis Regina Spektor to name but a very few. Goldfrapp and Fraser are excellent shouts. Sugercubes yes.Solo no. Fair enough, IMO, Sugarcubes no solo yes. Sugarcubes, meh. Boring indie nonsense. Solo, some average poppy crap, some amazing abstract and experimental electronica. Whatever she does, the voice is always special. I agree with the positives and the statement about the Sugarcubes but disagree with the "average poppy crap". In my humble opinion, she is a fantastic vocalist but an even better creator of music. Two fantastic, stand out tracks are "All Is Full Of Love" and a personal fave of "Joga". A lot of cracking shouts on here though, I am a bit partial to the odd bit of Patti, agree with Cosa on Minnie (especially with some Dr. Paterson sprinkled over it ) and for a recent, possibly uncool shout, I really like the voice of that girl from Feist. Also, I have a cover version of Blue Monday by a band called something like "Flunk" and it has another nameless beautiful female voice.
scott herbertson
Right anyone who knows me on here will tell you I am a grade A sexist pig, but indeed I am not and one thing I do really appreciate(aprt from buns, cans and pins) is the high quality of female musicians through the years. Here are my fav's (in no particular order) Joan Baez Carole King Dolly Parton Janis Joplin Sheyl Crow Kate Bush Amy MacDonald (this girl is gonna be huge) KT Tunstall Annie Lennox Alison Moyet Jewel Sarah Mclaughlin Any others? Don't like any of those at all My list would be, in no particular order: Sandy Denny P J Harvey June Tabor Alison Kinnaird Mama Cass Billy Holliday Suzie Quatro .. oh and Liz - Phair - not the best video but I do like this song
Mr X
PJ Harvey is a genius. Never does two similar albums in a row. Her latest 'White Chalk' is wonderful. Also like two new female artists, Ida Maria and Polly Scattergood.
