Was quite disappointed when he left. George Galloway's show is boring. Its basically the same topic rehashed every week. I'm disappointed when its him on and not Ian Collins. His "debating" style was to talk over the callers, get his producer to play chicken noises when trying to goad someone to phone in, then cut off callers when they didn't agree with his point. The station is missing James Whale badly, as Cigaro said, the Galloway show is just re-hashed every night, nothing exciting there. There's not been much in the way of groundbreaking shows since Tommy Boyd got the punt. Unless they find someone soon it's gonna become the most bland station on the radio. Collins is a nice "safe" option for the new bosses, they've even watered down Hawksbee and Jacobs by telling them to drop various parts of their programme. I don't agree with all of George Galloway's views but his subject range is pretty broad. Yes, there are some subjects that do come up quite often. They are usually subjects of important topical interest. As this current economic crisis develops much of what Galloway and his mentor Tony Benn have been saying over the years is proving to be correct. However, even Tony Benn must have been surprised when banks, not just here, but in the US, were effectively nationalised. On the American election, Galloway was one of the first to predict that Barack Obama would win the presidency - that was before most of us had even heard of the man. Another thing about Galloway is he can communicate in the Queen's English unlike many of the 'jocks' who've been on that and similar stations. His verbal destruction of the US Senate Committee a couple of years back was impressive and gained him respect from many and not necessarily all from the 'Left'. It's when he gets moved to the mid-morning slot he has to play the game. You're right, he did have it before. Glad they've got rid of Gaunt, terrible broadcaster. How he ever got 3 sony awards back in his three counties days is beyond me. I pretty much never listen to talksport now. Ian Collins is a great broadcaster but he's far better in his usual through the night slot rather than doing a news type show mid-morning. It was about fostering children and the councillor was a tube of the highest order. Gaunty lost the plot and appoligiesed to the listners after the interview for losing it,it was an issue close to his heart as he was in a childrens home. I was never that keen on him but he was correct on this issue imho and the toon social work dept was run by a little Hitler like most social work dept. Galloway's visits were for humanitarian reasons. His 'buttering up' of Hussein was in order to make it possible for him to meet those people whom he wished to help. Successive Tory Trade Ministers and US warmongers like Donald Rumsfeld on the other hand cosied up to Hussein in order to sell him weapons, including chemical weapons, which they encouraged him to use in his proxy war against the arch enemy, Iran in the 1980's. When Hussein eventually bit them on the bum he became public enemy No.1. There are many hypocrites when it comes to dealings with Saddam Hussein - Galloway is not one of them.
