Looking for some diy tips. Looking to fit it to a bedroom wall bit it's an internal plasterboard wall. Any recommendations on fittings, brackets and how to 'hide' the cables.

Oh, and the advice has to be for the hard of DIY. ;)

Loops of duct tape.

Its the cure for everything.

On a serious point there is rawl plug things which clamp onto the wall when you screw into them. They may work.

Use these type of plasterboard fixings, although metal ones are best if you can get them.screw into the wall easier.

As for hiding the wires.

All depends where they come from just now.

If there below where the tv is going on wall, just cut a small hole out the wall(behind tv) and one at ground level, use a rod or string to pull the cables through.

If you dont fancy that, can always use a bit of trunking to hide the cables.

Doesnt look as smart, but quicker and easier to do.

Best bet is to find a strap of wood on your timber framed wall at the required height.Tap the wall with a hammer and you should hear where the strap is.Check with a thin nail or screwdriver.

Then fit ( scew to strap ) a bit of 1/2" plywood to take the size of your wall bracket.

For the cables you can run them down the back of the plasterboard but you would have to come out the wall and back in again where the straps are. Then cut into plasterboard and re plaster.

Or run a bit plastic trunkin surface and paint the same colour a wall.

Hope this helps.

I am up to early this morning.

Don't use plasterboard fixings unless you want a broken telly and a hole in your wall, they're ok for putting up lights and other small thing but can't hold any real weight and will get pulled out of wall!

Jayels idea's a pretty good one but another way if the fixing holes on the bracket are approx 600mm (2ft) apart find a stud in the wall like Jayel explained above then measure 600mm to either side and you should find another stud, fix to these and you'll have as solid a fixing as you can get!

Remember use bloody big screws tho!

EDIT- To hide the cables i would presume it'd be above a socket so you could turn power of to ring main and take socket and back box out, cut a hole behind bracket and drop cables and you should be able to grab a hold at the socket hole and do with as you wish!
