Alan_R
didn't think there would have been much support for northern irish football. disgraceful behaviour though. Honestly shocking, the player could have been seriously injured.

Fireworks are actually illegal in Northern Ireland, never mind at the football.
londonjambo
Not condoning what happened but typical footballer eh ? Read the story and he says it hit his back and bounced off and that it "shook him up for a few seconds". Watch the pics and he goes down clutching his chest with both hands. Appreciate it was in the heat of the moment but old habits die hard - must have been trying to get the crowd sent off. GC

GC Exactly my thoughts, if it had happened in the street there is no way he would have gone to ground. Throwing fireworks should not happen anywhere. Throwing fireworks should not happen anywhere. In a perfect world the guy who threw the firework would admit to it, or be shopped, and be banned, and the club would also receive some form of punishment. Don't think it will happen though - omerta will reign.

Indeed they do but it is a fantastic league that allows you to watch some of the best players in the league. For me the NI league offers nothing. Was an honest question. ULSTER JAMES
the guy that was hit used to play for Cliftonville before moving to Linfield!! Cliftonville get labelled with a lot of things but this incident happened because a guy turned up for the shield final v Linfield (he probably won't turn up again this season) just to cause trouble....it happens and in Irish League football the security/stewarding isn't always up to scratch. as for the match i'm glad Linfield got beat, so fair play Cliftonville! Qurator
Dunno if it's been said yet, but despite it being a stupid thing to do, it was actually quite a good shot (assuming the guy meant to hit that player). Still stupid though. Hope the guy who set it off gets caught and his team lose the shield they just won
