Why?

Think it sort of defeats the purpose or intent of the tournament if your giving people paid to play football a chance.

I was wondering about the choice of charity and the selection process?

Are they all meant to be children charities? If not maybe next year they should look for a slighty different type of charity.

Prancer is right, where do you draw the line? If the rule was two players per team it 'could' work, but to the best of my knowledge it is meant for fans (beer bellies et al) and not paid players.

The choosing of the charities is a difficult and emotive task,it is NOT always children's charities however....The benefactors in 2008 were Maggies Cancer care centre at the Western General who deal with adults suffering from the blight of cancer and their families.

I'm sure Monc's would welcome ANY offers of help (not just suggestions) as he and his wife do a power of work to ensure this continues, the accumulated total must be over ?35,000* to date raised for LOCAL charities, a feat i think is tremendous!

*Let us know the correct total...;)

I wasn't able to make to the trials last year, so well up for it this year.

Played 90 minutes at Tynie in August and it is without doubt the mosy enjoyable 90 minutes I've played for years. I even managed to save a few too.

I can answer your questions AP...

Dependant on the interest there will be one or two sunday night trials at Riccarton. We will be looking for fitness levels to be high,a good first touch, decent skill levels and of course a couple of dirty bass'as;).

The trials WILL be high tempo AND energy sapping, this is to 'weed out' anyone who thinks it is just fun:p.

Once we have our squad of approximately 20,the hard work will begin..we will train VERY hard every Sunday from mid January, with Friendlies played on Friday nights and occasional Sunday nights as we approach march, the squad will then be trimmed to 16. 100% commitment is required (expected) and the rewards are huge!! The pleasure of playing at tynecastle coupled with the camaraderie during the build up as well as raising money for the charity make it something most players want to repeat.

Does Each Player Have To Raise 100pounds each?

I would imagine there will be a minimum amount - and that actually seems quite low. Football aid and such are over ?200.

Re the semi pro/junior rule is this anything to do with hibs cheating with SFL players showing up last year?:P

Thanks Meadows.

Selfish question - how many keepers will you be wanting in your final 16?

No keepers need apply as we have enough!! :P:p

GUYS - Could I ask you to register on the forums on the charity game website and I can answer all your questions there? That way it saves me answering the same questions on all theHearts/Hibs forums which I put this onto.

Cheers

Last year it was a min of ?100 the more you get the better for the charity.

There was 3 keepers last year and they have been at our summer league aswell, So it looks like its will be a good challenge for that place.

Prancer, Last year both teams had some senior players i thought they were going to a min of 2 but looks like its getting changed to none.

whos to say all senior/junior clubs are paying players ??

last year both teams had senior/junior players playing so was just wondering why the sudden change of rule.

To answer the 'goalie' questions: We will be having only 2 keepers in the final 16,possibly 3 in the 20 dependant on standard. The keepers training is a little more specialised as positioning, distribution and handling are important skills for a keeper!! However the fitness rules apply to all, plus the gruelling sessions are good for bonding*.

paddyhmfc...the more versatile a player is the better.;)

the purpose of the no junior/senior rule it to keep the event completely amature. the argument could be made that jaunior/senior football is amature, but we have to draw the line somewhere otherwise it could get out of hand with squads of former/semi pro playing year after year, this would just defeat the purpose.
