McCarthy has just used a rule that lots of players and countries have benefitted from. Of course, the ambulance chasers had to get involved and make this an issue about them. Having seen the GFA's youth policy in action, I think he was right to do what he did. So many promising youngsters get snubbed simply because of who they play for. The worst of it is how on Real Radio McCarthy was getting stick for choosing to play for the Irish but that wee fhud McGeady was conveniently left out of the argument.
