Interesting comment, what it a through away one or do you have any basis for it? Genuine question. As I understand it (based on a previous visit there for a league match) It's not that police aren't allowed in the ground due to anything sinister. The PSNI are happy that trouble is pretty much non existent at The Brandywell and leave it to the club to manage things with stewards only. This suits the club as they don't have to pay bills to the PSNI. Admitedly it's interesting that the PSNI didn't insist on a presence there on Monday night however, given the increased potential for over exuberence. It was either just before or just after Guy Fawkes night and plenty JT's were firing rockets through the small bit of no-man's land into the vermin. Our rockets flew straight and true. One of them managed to get close to the segregation and lit a rocket to fire back at us and we watched as it turned 180 degrees half way across to fly straight back into them.
