Whiplash

Whilst going to work this morning the car I was in was pranged ever so slightly from behind and I mean ever so slightly, but it's f..ked my neck. For the first few hours it felt like I had jarred my neck slightly but as the day wore on it feels as if my neck is about to fall off my shoulders. Went to the docs for some serious painkillers, which I got and it was the doc that told me it was probably whiplash. if it gets worse or doesn't improve I've to go up to the RIE for an xray (I hate going to A&E). Anyway, if the pain got any worse I'd be deed.

Anyone ever had whiplash, if so, what the **** did you do about the pain? Just greet yerself to sleep?

I don't believe for a minute that giving birth is more painful than this ****.

Get yourself to hospital tonight. Might not like it but it'll be worth it ??? wise aswell. I had whiplash about 3 years ago and scored over 3 grand. As for the pain I was given painkillers and sleeping tablets from my doctor.

I wish I got sleeping pills too :(

3k sounds good, but I'm finding it difficult just getting out of my bed to go for a pish nevermind going on a 30min jaunt up to the RIE.

Counting scheckles tends to ease the pain.

Another side effect is loss of libido, years of depression, a dependency on drugs and an inability to work.

Anyone who has not experienced this life changing small shunt to the rectum obviously cant comment on its long lasting effects.

You should there for feel no guilt whilst you and your undoubtely corrupt insurance company proceed to screw the ass out of every Tom, Dick and Harold imaginable.

Surprised he never sent you for x-rays straight away.

It can be pretty nasty. Your neck muscles basically just seize up to support and immobilise your cervical spine to stop any further damage. It can be pretty painful and unpredicatable as to how long it takes to get better. The stiffness and pain should alleviate a little each day. I'd say give it a week and if no improvement you will need cervical spinal x-rays to ensure that the vertebrae are still aligned and that none have moved.

That's a pretty quick and painless procedure. A+E's are quietest from about 9-11 am on midweek days, well my one is any way, so it may be an idea to go then.

Are you at the A&E every weekday between 9 and 11am?

He felt my spine and said it seemed ok but said I had a bad spasm and some swelling in my neck. He also mentioned if I got pins and needles, sharp pains going into the back of my head or any numbness I was to head to the Western and only go to the RIE if it was neck pain. Why the Western and not the RIE? The Western is about twice the distance.

I'd be embarrassed suing the arse off someone due to this accident as it really was a nothing shunt. I was just extremely unlucky.

Dont be hasty, speak to your insurance company.

They will tell you whats wrong with you, what do Doctors know?

Maybe the Western is the specialist spinal / neurological institute for the East of Scotland, we have the Southern General through here that occupies that role.

Pins and needles, numbness etc could possibly indicate that something is pressing on your spinal cord.

It's very hard to tell if everything is aligned in your cervical spine by palpating alone. You can feel the transverse spinous processes through skin but how accurate your judgment could be based on that is up for debate.

Do hearts feel embarrassed taking money of the fans for dismal performances, don't think so, plus he could be a hibby, if that was me and i had the chance of getting money and a few weeks paid off work i would jump at the chance.

P.S I'm not a believer in bad karma and all the nonsense thatswhy prob go for this option.

It was the RIE I went to. It was actually a police officer who lives in my street that told me to go to get checked out.. all I thought I had was a stiff neck. Turns out I had strained some neck muscle I have never even heard of. I wouldn't be bothered about the cause of the accident- the fact is you're in pain which i'm guessing was non fault. People pay enough in insurance to be well worthy of a pay out now and again.

I posted a thread yesterday about my ongoing whiplash claim mate.

Sounds pretty similar to mine. Somone hit me at a roundabout in June, I came to a stop and she ran into the back of me. She wasn't going that fast but it was enough to bounce my car a few feet forward as my handbrake wasn't on.

I didn't feel anthing for about 3-4 hours and then my neck and shoulder blade was really painful. Went to the doctor's the next day and she told me to double the dosage of ibuprofen but she also offered me tamazapan (sp?) which I declined as you can't drive after taking it apparently.

I am currently in the middle of a no win - no fee type claim with Gildeas Solicitors that a Barrister I know put me in touch with. I've had 6 sessions of physio that the Solicitors pay for and I feel a lot better.

The western has the minor injuries clinic which is what your neck will come under.

I stood in the western once bleeding all over their floor after getting in a not so minor altercation.

They said they 'didnt do head knocks' and sent me to A&E at the Royal.

Fecking chancers.
