come on you 'Johnny Foreigners', Hearts would be a steal at half the price! And im sure Mr Ramonov would be more than happy to have the burden of a football club taken off his hands.

As part of our next panic campaign we could write to theses guys and highlight that the SPL is 10 times better than the EPL and Tynecastle is ten times better than St. James or White Heart Lane.

They then might think "fup it, Edinburgh is much better than Newcastle or London and has a lovely castle. Lets buy Heart of Midlothian football club, win loads of trophies and have enough money left for a slap up meal and nice fur coat for the wife."

English Premiership clubs also receive ?30M+ per year from TV deal which makes an investment in those clubs more attractive .... well that is it would be if they didn't all erse that money on buying players & exorbitant wages.

If someone comes in for Hearts it will probably cost them more than anyone has ever spent on a football club in Scotland (simply by the level of debt which will have to be covered, either partly or in total), but nowhere near the half of either of the figures you mention above. However even a figure like, for example, ?20 million is frightening when you consider the largest sum paid to take control of a Scottish football club was by David Murray in 1988, and he bought Rangers for ?6 million.

Being pedantic PJ1 but you could argue that when Fergus McCann sold his majority shareholding & had a public flotation and sold the shares to Celtic fans that that was the highest amount received/paid for a Scottish club.

I would imagine that however much was paid to Fergus McCann that each and every one of the GFITW chipped in. Assuming that was the same number who went to Seville (that number depends on what you read, but was anything from 1 million to 10.25 million of the bhoys !!!!!) each persons outlay would have been a reasonable sum. I was talking about 1 individual's outlay (and I know it was 20 years ago and time has moved on), and for someone, even a small consortium, coming into to buy Hearts their outlay would be massive in comparison.
