Deek
I cant believe Johnny Rotten would do this. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=F5dZGV2DGjE Advertising butter for fecks sake. this_is_my_story
What is actually so awful about him doing this? Have to say, it's one thing that bugs me a little when pop stars/artists are accused of 'selling out'. Does getting paid for commercial work somehow devalue their contribution to the music industry? Besides, I think people do a hell of a lot worse things for money in the world we live in nowadays!!! Rant over

We may be roughly the same age, but you were obviously never a punk in your younger days. I suspect you were more a "New Romantic" with your painted faces and fancy clothes.A Duran Duran or Adam Ant fan. I always thought Johnny Rotten would be a rebel of sorts until he died. Deek
Did it not sink in slightly when he went on a reality game show in a fake jungle? Yes, but at least he was still showing some rebellion. FFS he looks like a West Country Julie Andrews in this advert. He has even done promotion for Guitar Hero but not without showing some grit. Sorry, but the Sex Pistols were a joke. In all sense and circumstance they were a band who were directed to play punk because that's what was "in" at the time. If jazz was the "in thing" at the time then McLaren would have made them a jazz band. Anyone who professes to be a punk yet holds the pistols in such high regards is seriously deluded IMO. Lydon had far more credibility with PIL than he ever did with the Sex Pistols.
cosanostra
Public Image Ltd were quality. Surprised at him doing this. Maybe that's why he did it, who knows? So that he can laugh about being the opposite that people thought he was. Did that make sense?

I liked punk and some NR music but I was never into the clothes/image thing - I found it all rather silly. I have always preferred smart, classic designer labels.
