jambostuart
Which in your opinion should get the UEFA Cup (or Europa League) spot now that SC runners up no longer get it? I think it should go to League Cup winners as opposed to 4th spot. This would give the CIS more credibility and make it something other than the diddy cup it is now. The CIS is a waste of time for most teams, except those who can't win hee haw:107years:. Even the Carling Cup has some sort of incentive to win it. Allowing winners the chance of playing in Europe would perhaps add a bit of spark to the cup. Having said that if we'd finished 4th and fecking Hibs won the CIS I'd be raging. Hearts Heritage
It is very likely that 3rd, 4th and 5th will get the 5 European slots. The Scottish Cup Winner has not finished outside the top 5 since the SPL was formed. "The only clubs outside the top five winning the competition have been: Dunfermline 1961 (12th), Aberdeen 1970 (8th), St Mirren 1987 (7th), Motherwell 1991 (6th), Dundee United 1994 (6th) and Kilmarnock 1997 (7th). That's once every eight years on average. Six times since 1960 compared to four times in the 1950s alone." loveofthegame
I think it should be given back to the League cup to add value to the competition. I hate the way one of the only 2 real chances of a trophy we have is so devalued by so many. I'll never forget the Coca Cola cup final in 1997- i'd like the trophy to get back to that level and prestige.

jambostuart
The Mouse cup is a non event, who cares about it. It's only a non event because there's nothing in it for the winner. It' as pointless as the Challenge Cup. If the prospect of Europe was added to it I'd imagine it'd become a little more prestigous.

Hearts Heritage
The Mouse cup is a non event, who cares about it. The wee cup is a worthless piece of tin, and a non event, always has been always will be. Charlie-Brown
Winning the league cup isn't as big or as important as winning the Scottish Cup but I'd still love Hearts to win it a few more times or even once would be nice.

The Old Tolbooth
League finish purely for selfish reasons a) we haven't won the league cup for yonks we finish higher in the league normally (under normal leadership and ownership) and would qualify a lot more. The good thing that would happen if it was the league cup that it would add a bit of value to it.
