heartgarfunkel
Nikon D40 does the trick easy to use great pics all for about ?300 Spot on - superb camera and kit lens. Ignore the megapixel size unless you're a pro photographer and want very large poster size and above images. The D60 and VR lens is coming down in price, but TBH the D40 is the dog's, and the price is an outrageous bargain for what you get. I traded mine in when I moved up to a D300 (sublime:)) but I'm tempted to get another as it is so easy to use, easy to handle, and it produces pin sharp images. Here's a useful site for getting the best prices: http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/ Ken Rockwell usually tells it like it is - check out his take on the D40: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/recommended-cameras.htm happy snapping! Ulysses
The Nikon one is probably what Im going to go for. Can get it for ?250 online. Cheers for the advice. MJ its a special bday! Ill be 21. A pint will do though! haha I got the Nikon D40 in January, and it's great. Whatever you do, don't be tempted into spending extra money on the D40X. You get more pixels that don't do any good, but you lose out because the D40 is better for flash photography. If by any chance you've got a few quid to spare, invest in a Nikon SB-400 speedlight. Better quality than the built-in flash, but doesn't cost a lot. And as heartgarfunkel said, the Ken Rockwell site is the mutt's nuts for camera and equipment reviews and commentaries. And sorry for the unashamed plug for JKB, but if you're going to buy from Amazon UK..........
