cosanostra
Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom???? It's a desperately dull film, verging on unwatchable. Whoever thought it a good idea to let an anti-semetic, alcoholic, Australian, midget loose on Scottish history deserves getting a caber tossed on their head. i8hibsh
In fairness I absolutely adore the film. Pure quality and one of my top 5 favs probs however I watch it for what it is and not SNP propoganda Salmond probably wants to use it as his political broadcast for the next election

If you take it for what it is - cheesy entertainment. BTW Gibson is originally a Yank. So is Nicole Kidman. Not many people know that...

Everyone and their dog has seen Braveheart and loves it Gibson has a better scot accent than Neeson also IMO No Way!!! Braveheart is like watching an episode of Jerry Springer with kilts on. It's a total cringe-fest from start to finish. Liam "Qui-gonn Jinn" Neeson is the man.

jamboinglasgow
I cant stand Braveheart, think mainly because it is soo historically inaccurate (I am a history student after all.) Not even the title is correct as Brave heart actually refers to Robert the Bruce who had his "brave heart" removed and taken on crusade in Spain. I would love braveheart alot more if it actully told the truth rather than make the amount of historical inaccuraces (to be fair I dont mind the odd one but a whole movie where a true fact is rare is not.) In my mind the life of Robert the Bruce is far more interesting than Wallace. And alot of Williams success was down to Andrew Murry who died at the battle of Stirling bridge. davemclaren
Braveheart is a pretty crap film. A sort of Brigadoon for the 90s.
david mcgee
Everyone said Mel Gibson couldn't play a Scotsman.. but he's doing a good job as a bigotted alcoholic I think this could be a slight on Scottish men, but i am too pashed to care. Rab
Although many nationalists love it, I reckon it set back the nationalist movement in Scotland at least five years. Decent entertainment, but completely destroyed Scotlands image in the world.
Sheriff Fatman
Braveheart is arse gravy of the highest order. Bad acting, bad writing, bad directing, god awful historical research and to cap it all off it's a fecking western in kilts.

Nonsense it moved it forward It is used as fodder for the big fat one and the likes "Freeeeeeeeeedom" and all that You also get the Tartan Army bawbags painting their faces like Gibson in the film truly pathetic I dread to think if that film had come out when SNP were in power at the time like now

brownkg
the best thing about braveheart was the TV NEtwork premiere on the 5th of January coz the EBC were too scared to put it on Hogmany or ne'er day in case it caused a riot. Historical mince but helped keep my old man in gainful employment follwoing the launch of this the year before the film
