After what games have you felt the happiest?

Interesting thread in which most people agree that the emotion after winning in 1998 was significantly more than happiness. Defeats of Hibs are always joyous occasions, but the overriding sense for me is one of relief.

I equate happiness with Scottish Cup matches prior to 1998 in which we beat the Old Firm against the odds. It's the romance of that Cup and also has something to do with the everything or nothing feeling on the day. Leaving Tynecastle after both games it felt like walking on air, and for one tantalising moment that we really might just go all the way.

1987 Hearts 1-0 Celtic

1995 Hearts 4-2 Rangers

Legend has it that the police came into the Hearts dressing room at half time to tell the team to take the foot off the gas otherwise there was going to be a riot in the Hibs End. Or did I dream that?

3-0 at Tannadice for me in 85/86. Really thought we'd clinched it that day.

Also 4-4 was the best game of football I've ever been to. Never been so ecstatic at a home draw.

Beating Celtic at Parkhead 91-92 was pretty good too. First time I'd seen us win in Glasgow.

I remember being at a game in the 80s when we were 2-0 down (going on 10) at Tynie against the Hun with 88 minutes gone. Got the draw that day and remember telling a cabbie who asked what the score was that it finished 2-2 for Hearts. Needless to say, he had no idea what I was talking about.

16th May 98 by a long way.

Its a day i thought i would never ever see .

To win the Scottish Cup and beat one of the ugly sisters in the final , it just couldn't have been better.

Best weekend of my life supporting HMFC.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Austin McCann's injury time winner against Celtic in 2003, it was great to give the smellies a dose of their own medicine with a late late winner.

great thread

Hobos in the semi and the penalty v Sheep to get us in CL qualifiers and split the OF.

Cup final in 98 will be tops though cos it had been so long. 2006 final was a bit of a damp squib IMO in comparison.

These are my tops but agree I have never heard a roar like Jose Quitongo scoring in the 90 something minute v smeltic.

PS The 4-4 v Hobos deserves a mention

All the obvious ones, but I cried with joy the day we beat Aberdeen in the 1996 Scottish Cup semi:) it was so good getting to a final after blowing all those semis.

I'd agree them , although I was only at the first and last of the games.

Another favourite of mine was when we won 1-0 at Arbroath in 77-78 to be promoted on goal difference after our first ever season in a lower division.

When Bednar scored against Rangers I thought I was a goner because I couldn't stop roaring long enough to breathe in.

I'd agree with John on the 4-1 , Leipzig and 98 games, and the Abroath one was great too.

The New years Day game 1st Jan 86 was my first New years vitory game ver Hibs (after watching for 22 years - I missed the only winning ones) so I was a pretty happy bunny after that one

Ruining hibs trophy presentaion at ER was up there. It was the first time I had seen hearts win at ER and when we scored I went mental, top came off and completely lost the plot in jubilation. The chants were hilarious, big team big cup, wee team wee cup, shoes off, hibs keeping up their tradition for producing great keepers for derbies and a lithuanian to score to shut them up about all their lithuanian nonsense. Then being escorted by the cops out the section we were in only to turn up in another part of the stand on more than one occasion. Quite possibly the funniest derby win ever.:107years:

Yup -- remember driving up Gorgie road, passing fans who'd left 10 mins before, who still thought we'd lost. They wouldn't believe we'd managed to crape a draw. I think Robbo got an acorbatic equalizer....

when we ****ed all over hibs cis cup party

Far too many to think about but that day being one of the last to be asked to leave(ejected). The silence of the ****. The polis not having a clue. The sheer delight on the laddies faces walking up Fester road. The polis still not having a clue. Unforgettable:107years:

Hearts v Aberdeen, for champions League qualifiers. I remember one of the loudest roars ever at Tynie, when Paul Hartley put that penalty kick in the back of the net. They must have heard that roar in Fife, the place was rocking!!! :)

Mine too.

(though the Bayern game runs close, as does humping the wees in the semi, and spoiling their cup celebration at the San Giro. Sadly, I've never seen us win a final, have been out of the country working on both occasions.)

I'd taken my brother-in-law to his first UK football game (he's a Urawa Reds fan from Tokyo), and he was IN AWE of the atmosphere at Tynie that night. Made me feel so proud.

I lost my voice for a couple of days after that night too.

Got a free ticket for a box at Hampden for the CIS cup final Livingston v Hibs.

In there with a Hibs fan mate and his Hibs daft family.

Left extremely happy that day considering Hearts were not playing.

Apart from that the 4-0 win over Hibs in 'that semi'

On a similar theme 1-0 in the QF replay (1968), Donald Ford scoring in the 87th minute, in front of the biggest Tynecastle crowd I've been in. The fact it was a replay made it even sweeter; "you never get a second chance against the OF" you know.

Another one to add to this amazing thread was an away game at Motherwell when we were pushing for the title in the late 90s, we were 2-0 down after about 25 minutes. Hammy pulled one back before half time and in the second half we ran them ragged to win 4-2.

The thing about that game was that even at 2-0 the Hearts ended EXPECTED the team to win.

Happy days

The People's Chimp

16/5/98 - seeing the hearts lift the cup with my dad and brother. amazing. 17 years old and having seen so many disappointments, that morning though, the sun was shining and there was just something in the air. I think most of the support knew it, and the players too, it WAS going to be our year. It was just the biggest high. fantastic. I remember the next day, and the parade, and the party in the streets of gorgie.

02/04/06 - what a day. I've written so much on that day, i think we all know how much it meant and how good it felt.

Then the cup final, what a great day, a bit of nerves, but the party that night will live with me forever.

All of the times we pumped hibs. Every time we beat one of the bigot brothers.

Oh and the 4/4 game and the MDV high five game.

Not as easy a question as I thought to answer ... there have been so many mentioned already ... and I attended the most if not all of them ...

Cup wins ... 4 0 Cup Semi against the hobos ... De Vries 5-1, Weir 4-4, the Stampy 2-1, Fordy 1-0 v Gers, Austin McCann v the ****, Bayern and Leipzig but ...

I don't know if it's my pathalogical hatred of all things Hobo but if I had to choose I would have to agree with the people who said ...

Ruining the Hibs CIS party ...

an unexpected win, big team wee team, shoes off and having to be put out of the cesspit by the 'bizzies' who didn't have a clue how to deal with it ... a day of unbridled joy which makes the hair on my neck stand up whenever I think about it :107years:

Yep ... that might be the happiest I've ever been as a Jambo

98 cup final far and away followed by the 06 cup semi and final. Others include.

Hearts 3 Hibs 2 1983 - first derby win I attended.

Hearts 1 Clydebank 0 - at the time that looked like it had put as a long way towards winning the league

Beating Dundee Utd cup semi 86 - meant I was going to my first cup final

Hearts 1 Bayern 0 - what a night

Hearts 4 Rangers 2 93(?) - unexpected and a great atmosphere

SuperWayne v Hibs - nothing more to say

Beating Sheep in cup semi 96 as it put to bed our semi hoodoo

Beating Celtic in LC after the 4 players were sent off at Ibrox

Borduaex and Basel away in Europe

1 0 against Rangers (Bednar) - really thought we were going to go all the way at that point

After 35 years of waiting nothing can match the 98 final for sheer unbridled emotion.

For laughs it might just be be the match at Pittodrie a couple of weeks earlier when news came through that Kjell Olafsson had consigned the Hobos to relegation. "We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when"
