Article on the bbc and interview with Kia Joorabchian:

Alan Curbishley has been accused of contributing to his own downfall at West Ham after making costly mistakes in the transfer market.

Curbishley resigned as the club's manager, complaining transfer policy had been taken out of his control.

But agent Kia Joorabchian, a transfer adviser at Upton Park, said Curbishley had made life difficult for himself.

"The board left it in the hands of someone they assumed was capable, things went wrong," he told BBC Sport.

I know some of you might not agree, particularly older fans who believe every aspect of the footballing side of the club should be run by the manager, but there is definately a sea-change away from managers signing players.

It's been the case at Hearts for a few years and it's going to happen more and more at other clubs. Big investments are being made by 3rd parties and they want more control over spending.

I don't have a great deal of time for Joorabchian but he really does have a point. Curbishley was given authority to make transfers but has made a mess of it so that authority has been taken away. Can't really have any complaints.
