Was that in the Concert Hall.Went to see Lucinda Williams there a few years back.Weird seating arrangements,i was at the side but it was the best sounding show i have been to.

Yes it was - I have sat at various parts of the concert hall and the sound has always been quality

back from explosions in the sky who were exceptional although my one gripe is with the crowd who a large amount thought it was okay to talk over the quiet parts of songs.

It was getting really annoying and one guy about five or so in front of me had enough of a girl who talked constantly through the whole show and wasn't even facing the band and told her to shut the ****** up. she looked a bit shocked and went off and got security who then came and took the guy out the gig. Shocking from my standpoint.

Not long back from EITS myself, thought they were outstanding, a good set and as DemonCleaner says tainted slightly by those bloody rude Weegies.

Disappointed slightly with Eluvium, I was expecting a decent support as Copia's a decent album IMO, except I don't think his set up of him and his laptop really works live.

Really good night though.

IThat sounds lame to me -I reckon he prefers the bevy and atmosphere in Dublin. From my experience, I think Edinburgh crowds are generally too polite & Glasgow crowds never know when to shut up. I hate it when an audience doesnt show an artist the respect to shut up and listen to them when they are talking.

I saw Keane at The Point in Dublin last summer.

The crowd were fantastic and The Point is a great venue although I think it's closed to get done up just now.

I'm also going to Cardiff to see The Boss.

  • 4 weeks later...

JamboRoss, how was Jimmy Eat World??

Saw Editors last night and they were fantastic. They get better and better everytime I see them, think they finally relaxing as they play now they must be used to filling decent sized venues.

Bad news is my bro got us tickets to go see Fish next week ...

Seen the Editors twice, once at the Corn Exchange and once at Meadowbank with Razorlight and they are a great band.

Got the Enemy on 23rd March at the Corn Exchange and thats about it really.. will have to go looking for some decent gigs coming up.

Jimmy Eat World were brilliant. Musically they couldn't be faulted and their light show was pretty cool. Only complaint would be the length of the set they played. An hour and fifteen minutes for a band with six albums is far too short. I was happy with most of the songs they played although a bit more from 'Futures' would have been nice.

The set was :

Big Casino

Sweetness

Work

Always Be

Clarity

Disintegration

Bleed American

Blister

Futures

Here It Goes

Let It Happen

23

Pain

-------------

Your House (they did this a bit differently, adding in a few "ahhhh's",kinda annoying!)

Hear You Me

Dizzy

The Middle

Highlights were 'Disintegration', '23', 'Hear You Me' and 'Dizzy'. It was nice to hear 'Clarity' as well which they said they hadn't played since 2002. Some folk have posted a few videos from it on youtube which are pretty cool.

Saw Reel Big Fish back on Saturday who were also fantastic, probably even better than JEW.

A JEW set without No Sensitivity is not worth anyones time.

Blister is cool though.

The Middle as a closer. Ugh.

'No Sensitivity' would have been nice but theres a whole load of other songs I'd have had in there before it : 'A Praise Chorus', 'Carry You', 'Electable', 'Lucky Denver Mint', 'A Sunday', 'For Me This Is Heaven', 'Just Tonight...', 'Kill', 'Night Drive', 'Seventeen'.

I wish they'd just gone without a support band (Styrofoam, who were better than their name sounds!) and played a 3 hour set. Think I might've died of excitement at the prospect of that though!

I saw them at the Barrowlands last time they played and NS was the highlight by a country mile.

They didn't play Kill then either :(

For Me This is Heaven is good live also.

Nah they never played Kill which was quite gutting. I'd been checking the setlists from previous dates and knew they weren't changing it around much, but was still hoping they might squeeze it in somewhere.

What record is No Sensitivity actually from? I have an MP3 of it but it's not on any of the albums or the 'Stay On My Side Tonight EP', do they have another EP?

Children of Bodom in June. Their London gig (which was a few days ago) was sold out pretty much in the pre-sale so, for the first time, they're doing an independent gig in Scotland. Canny wait; it'll be the third time I've seen them.

Then Wacken festival in Germany in July. 3 days of sheer, state-of-the-art metal. Bliss.

Thursday for me.

Only the 2nd time I'll have seen the Blue Nile live (saw them in 1996). Have seen Paul Buchanan a couple of times since.

Can't wait to hear them in the Concert Hall. Can only imagine how good the sound will be.

its tiny - when u first go in theres a pub, and then u go through the back and upstairs and thats where the actual venue is, its sort of split into 2 rooms, bar :) and merchandise in the room to your left, and stage to your right.

dont know about numbers but its very very small. its a brilliant venue though.

Holds a couple of hundred. Go on their website theres like a 3d tour thing. It's probably the best live venue in Scotland, I love the place. Gigs do tend to finish quite late though, they tend to start an hour later than most other gigs and a few times when I've been there they have been scheduled to finish at 11.20-11.45ish, so you sometimes need to leave early to get the last train which sucks.
