Personally I believe they're doing the correct thing by Cammy Quote
AGoodLaugh Posted March 2 Posted March 2 I love Cammy, but tbh thought Beni was one of the few pass marks today and we tend to not look as good recently when they both play. Main problem in my view was our front 3 did almost nothing all game. Quote
Martin B Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Cammy is not the problem/solution. We’ve lost two games since he got injured. One was due to poor finishing, the other was due to a 1 in a 100 strike from a centreback. Quote
Carter Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Devlin played in the game at Tynecastle on Boxing Day and was not at the races. Today was tactical ineptitude. Quote

A 4231 with our dynamic duo as the two would offer us a really solid footing in midfield. Something like: Gordon Forrester Steinwender McCart Penrice Devlin Beni Hoff Shankland Spittal Elton It would mean Spittal & Hoff could almost ignore defensive duties, and focus on positive play further forward. TBH I'd like to see Oda brought back in. Even just to bring on later in games. He's always been fairly impactful as a sub. Quote

I agree in theory, just personally don't think it's worked recently in practice with both of them together. I'd agree that as limited as our options are on the wings I'm not sure just playing no winger is sustainable. Quote

Gambo Posted March 2 Posted March 2 We have bigger problems than I thought if we missed Devlin. We had enough backwards/sideways passes to last a season today, no need for more. Quote

Watt-Zeefuik Posted March 2 Posted March 2 The formation and Devlin's absence go hand in hand for me. We played in the diamond in part because the 4-4-2 we'd been playing requires two staunch, dynamic defensive midfielders to hold it down, and Beni is definitely one but between Hoff, Grant, Spittal, and Kartum there's not another one. Hoff came in and played there when he came on but he's not fully back to full fitness and it showed. I don't think Devlin on would have solved the problem of creating chances against Hibs' back 3. But I do think that a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 with Beni and Devlin in the middle would have dramatically helped Gerald Taylor, and to a lesser degree Penrice, in dealing with pressure on the wings. I seriously hope he's back for Dundee as well because he was a big part of the thumping we dolled out last month and I think managers are starting to figure out how to play against the diamond. Quote
mitch41 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Any news on Devlin we really could do with the wee man in the team for Friday. Quote

Pasquale Posted March 6 Posted March 6 If Devlin had been in the team vs. Hibs we had have won, pure and simple. Beni did well in the first half but tired in the second. Cammy would have run all day long and the game wouldn't have got away from us second half. Absolutely no reason why both can't play in the same team. Quote

footballingarts Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Penrice surely the obvious POTY - Cammy 2nd or Benni. Love young Wilson's attitude and effort but he's not achieving much. Elton - on fire and now off the boil. Hope he starts burning again soon. Cammy should be captain - Shanks' attitude 100% wrong for a captain - or for any player. Some of the ball boys look more upbeat than shanks, doubt he encourages anyone much - and that is what a captain needs to do. Quote
Tommy Brown Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Think the other team selection mistake last week was dropping Calem for Spittal. He linked up well with Penrice against St Mirren. Would have both in tonight for Grant and Spittal. Quote

A_A wehatethehibs Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Pretty sure he is out due to a traumatic brain injury? If so, folk should be under no illusions how serious that is. Depending on the severity he could be out for the rest of the season, its not a “delay getting him back” Quote
