I'll give you most of those, but McCoist better than Robbo? Never imho.

I'd put the Celtic era Mo Johnston above AMcC, or even a Paul Sturrock or Mark McGhee in their "New Firm" hey-days. Not saying McCoist was bad, just there were others who were as good if not better. Christ, even Brian McClair when at the Tims...

I'm only 19 so probably can't remember seeing half that bunch play...

However..Edwin Van Der Saar played in a pre-season friendly against us when he played for Fulham. Back in 2004 maybe... Good goalkeeper.

Fair dos.

It's funny because I was going to mention the Miller/McLeish centre half partnership that was very good, but you are right as I think Levein was one of the best naturally gifted footballers we (Hearts & Scotland) have ever produced.

Hans Eskilson, Darren Beckford, Rafael Scheidt to name a few. Ok thats clearly a joke.

Yeah give you all those but would like to think wee Robbo in his prime deserves to be in there.

World Youth Championships 1989??. Scotland v Portugal in the semi final at a jam packed Tynecastle(with loads locked out). 1-0 to Scotland with Dickov or Brian O'Neil scoring I think.

Some good sides here, was Bobby Moore playing for Fulham when we met them in Texaco Cup 74/75, surely he should be in these defences? ahead of Terry Butcher me thinks?

We have a winner (and correct scorer), that was the one of the busiest I ever remeber tynecastle.

And how the Scottish lads went onto bigger and better things after losing the final to Saudia Arabia over 35's.

Fantastic shout, I was one of the ones locked out! Although I'd still have Kenny Dalglish instead of him, you may be too young to have seen him at Tynie....possibly.

Would def have put Dalgleish in from what I've seen of him on TV but he left for Liverpool before I knew what football was!!!

Did Karl-Heinz Rummenigge play at Tynecastle in a friendly?

Maybe mid-80s v an Edinburgh select?

Kevin Keegan is another worth a shout; all be it a little past his best when he played for us.

It covers such a long period of time for some (me included) could we possibly break it up into best teams from each decade? Would make picking teams easier.

I thought about him and Olaf Thon, but struggled to find a list of the Bayern team of 1989. I also thought about Steve Archibald but was scared of getting lots of: :hobofish:

But seriously some great players here. Jimmy Johnstone would certainly in my list as would Roy Aitken

In terms of best performance ever Aitken, who by the way I hated with a vengeance, took one Hearts Celtic match by the scruff of the neck when they had a man sent off and he covered the whole park, winning corners, tackling, creating chances. They won of course, but only thanks to that smelly big git.

Another nobody has mentioned is Andy Ritchie of Morton who was a fantastic player on his day and made a mockery of our midfield.

I would also have Strachan in there and possibly Ralph (handbag) Milne, both of whom gave us really hard times.

Still no mention of Jean-Marc Boco

I think he must be the only footballer to ever be knocked out in 2 conscutive games he played (I think), seem to remember him being melted by someone at Ibrox, and his first game back was us at Tynie where I think Stephane Adam smashed a free kick right into his puss and knocked him flat on his arse!

Good old Jimmy, he was my brothers idol for a good while!

We were certainly made to feel humble that night.

Picked their sweeper Manfred Kaltz in my team earlier and it was a toss-up between including their Felix Magath or picking Kevin Keegan.

Chose Keegan because he played for us!

Nobody has mentioned Stanley mathews, playing for Stoke.

The best club display I have ever seen at Tynecastle was the Dundee team who beat us 7 1 and they cost us the league not Kilmarnock on the last game.

Andy Penman was world class and Cameron scored 4 I think, they would have hammered anybody that day.
