Auld pieces of Hearts gear you love/loved

As a kid in the 60's I had the Candy Strip but the v-neck collar was all white as I remember. Had a cloth scarf with thin white diagonal stripes and little emblems, scarf was cut diagonally at either end too. Had the WBA version from Texaco cup too. All now unfortunately lost 😞

My silk Hearts scarf from 1976.

My dad took me to John Greig's shop in the Royal Mile. He said he wouldn't be there, training etc., but there he was behind the counter.

Dad said I should get a woollen one as they were more fashionable but I wanted that beautiful silk one. There was a generic Hearts player at either end with a football at his feet.

Long since lost, sadly.

I don't recall John Greig having a shop on the Royal Mile, but do remember his shop opposite Bruntsfield Links.

He gave me a Hearts 'blazer badge' which is still on a scarf that had literally scores of sew-on and pin badges on it.

I love that scarf and will post a picture of it later.

That was quite a popular addition to the back of a Wrangler jacket, many moons ago.

A 'cut-off' Wrangler jacket, of course!

League Cup. We lost the first leg at Tannadice 3-1. Utd were top of the premier league and we were in Division 1. Nobody gave us a chance after the first leg but we won 2-0, survived ET then won it on penalties. One of the best nights that season.

Well remembered indeed 👍 it was one of the (not many) glimmers of sunshine back then

Not mine, but I came across this on ebay. I can't recall evr buying these at Tynie, but I'm sure they were enjoyed by many.

Heart Of Midlothian Crisp - Picture 1 of 2

The pack is reminiscent of the late 80s programme cover too.

Can anyone remember the Hearts silk scarf back in the late 70's' early 80's? You couldn't wear the bloody thing ....so I just stuck it on my bedroom 'shrine' wall, along with my Hearts pennants

I’ve got a stunning 1974 centenary scarf, almost exactly as you describe. It’s in my Hearts box up in the attic. One day I’m gonnae create a thread just based on that box. It’s got everything from Hearts scrapbooks to Hearts soap ffs 🤣

We were both on caught òn the telly jumping up and down when Dundee utd beat Hibs 1 nil at Easter road. And i was wearing my parka with that badge on it 🙂

I had one of the old cravat style scarfs back in the 60s. I don’t know what happened to it.  Maroon with narrow diagonal white stripes and, originally, wee white stamps of the castle, I think. Those wore off fairly quickly as I recall.
I occasionally see guys walking on Gorgie Road, before a game, wearing one.

I’d love it if they were re produced as a retro item.

Yes! I remember having one of those.
I think that was some sort of template design as I think Hibs and other clubs had similar scarves.

We had the plastic soap travel box things to compliment the bars of soap. I'll need to see if the folks still have them in a box somewhere!

I have one of those.  Was given to 40 years ago when I worked in Mallaig.

Was repairing a fishing boat and Skipper gave it to me.

Don't know how he came by it, but I'm very grateful !

Third pic was the holy grail of badges. A proper blazer badge that cost a fortune back then.

My first scarf was given to the people of Glasgow after the 2006 final! Not sure how long it lasted up there...

Yep that badge is mine! I recognise it from the moth partially consumed scarf it’s sewn on to. The scarf is now ratter ‘delicate’ and doesn’t attend matches anymore!

Brian Whittaker's Tache

My dad won the pools in 1980, a whole £24! My brother and I got £2 each off the winnings and I bought a 79 - 80 First Division Champions scarf from the club shop. Still have it.
