Martin B Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Anybody else been struck down by this? Never known anything like it. 🙈 Starting feeling ill in the pub after the game on Boxing Day. By the next morning it had progressed to a heavy cold and then started getting dizzy spells, hot and cold flushes and vomiting. Could barely lift my head from the pillow for three days and found it hard to stay hydrated. Had bizarre hallucinations and thoughts and really low mood as well. Been up and about for a couple of days now but feel absolutely wiped. No energy and feel like I have brain fog. Got a fridge full of Guinness, Baileys and a cupboard full of red wine but haven’t touched a drop since Boxing Day and don’t really fancy a drink. Quote

Dirty Deeds Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Think I caught the thing the day of the Petroclub game, still coughing and spluttering but getting the flu jab in October has spared me the worst of it. Will be glad when it finally pisses off. Quote

Yeah I had it was bedridden for 3 days but thankfully recovered fully afterwards. Was a pretty horrible experience. As others pointed out I think the flu jab I recieved helped me a lot to recover. indianajones Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Not been 100% since late November. Not fully out the game but just lingering in the background. Some days worse than others. Seems to be a lot of stuff going about just now. Quote

I'd recently got home from working in Angola so had to get myself down to infectious diseases at the Western to chek it wasn't malaria or any other trpical nasty. Was a relief when my results came back as influenza. Thank **** its only the flu! Knocked both my kids to shit too but the ginger Mrs somehow managed to avoid it again. It's in the ginger genes I reckon. Quote

Got norovirus which was not fun, then a cold or mild flu a couple of weeks after, possibly not as bad as protected by the October flu jab. But it has left me with **** all energy and a sniffle/sticky throat that is lingering around way past its welcome. It also felt like the winter bugs started earlier this year. Quote

A girl came into work with it the week before Christmas and the entire team dropped like flies and I felt a bit rough then but again didn't come to much. Fast forward to new years day and I woke up feeling utterly grim. Cough, tightness in chest, pounding head, throat like razor blades. Had my whooping cough vaccine on Friday so unsure if the side effects of that have elevated how I'm feeling but I still feel utterly grim. Quote

PTBCAL Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Been ill since Bruges. Improved but relapsed after Denmark. Had the flu jab just after Bruges. Went for Covid jab after Denmark and they tested me - I had Covid 🤦♂️ Quote
Jacques de Gatineau Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Felt great all winter so far other than a couple of self-inflicted hangovers. Viruses obviously picking at the low hanging fruit given the usual suspects posting about their condition above. Quote
luckyBatistuta Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Had something similar before Copenhagen, but no way was I missing that trip. I did say to my wife the day before that ‘if I feel like this tomorrow, I’m not going’…that was never really happening though. Wiped of energy, no taste, didn’t really need to sit down for an Eartha, could have just used a urinal. Drink helped me through the first day there, but couldn’t drink on the day of the game, or the Friday, was just done. Improved massively when I got back after getting some antibiotics, but even now, i’m not right. Quote
Dawnrazor Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I had a real bad cold/flu about a month ago, I was floored, but it was all snot and sneezing, it cleared, but a week ago I got a right bed chesty cough, I still have, just ****ing lingering without getting better or worse 🤬🤬🤬 Quote

J.T.F.Robertson Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Came down with a hacking cough, the 23rd, along with cold sweats and even upchucked once. Haven't felt my normal perky self (aye right) for a while, In fact have only been across the door twice since it kicked in. Sinuses are feked as well but been like that on and off for a while. And now for the weather ...... Quote
