What a state we are in if it came to this!

Losing games of football regardless of who is playing in them at first team level will do absolutely zero for the confidence of the squad.
The club have also indicated lots of times that Europe is the aim, no danger we sacrifice that.

Aye asking fit young pro footballers to play 2 games a week, shocking 🤔.

Regardless it’s obvious half of them are not up to it, whether it’s all in the mind to some of them, maybe another issue

We weren't great when we were only playing one game a week either though.

These players have been mismanaged for ages mate. Should be easily done but our players have had it so easy theyre done. Discipline was non existent and that fecking trip to tenerife ? What a joke.

it's asking unfit ones that's the problem ( NB not injured)

Persisting with an overweight immobile disinterested striker who has zero competition for his place irrespective of his form, isn't working out too well for us.

You'd think they were paid handsomely to play football once or twice a week...

Under Robbie when we were getting scudded every game fair enough but we’re a win and draw away from knock out football. Please don’t suck every drop of enjoyment out of this shambles of a season.

The European wins are the only thing making this season somewhat bearable and keeps some semblance of respect on the clubs name  🤣

Get to France with that idea.

Let's take a 7th or 8th place in the league on the chin after a shit start and try to get as far as possible in Europe and a decent Scottish cup run

Posted

In 1988/89 when we had a long run in Europe, ultimately losing to Bayern, we struggled early in the season and ultimately finished 6th in the premier league.  🥸

That wouldn’t make sense.  Winning our next four in Europe would be worth over €2m to the Club.  That would fund the hiring challenge for January.

NC has inherited a shambles. I'm positive he'll turn it around but it's going to take time and it isn't going to be pretty. Europe is important, as is obviously the league. We do our best in both until Christmas then see where we are then. I don't think we'll be bottom of the league table, but I do think we will be floating around there. The push from Christmas to summer will be crucial but hopefully some new faces in January and some breathing space will allow us to move up the table and secure a European spot. Fingers crossed and I remain optimistic.

indeed.

also with £370,000 or thereabouts for a win in Europe suggests we will not play a second string side (not that we have such an option).  We get on with it and with an international break coming up , that’ll be the time to assess. I’m not expecting anything at Ibrox or v Celtic at home (given we can’t even beat the likes of hibs or Ross county) so we will likely go into December firmly rooted at the bottom with hibs.

decembers fixtures look favourable if we can get some shit together and January will be huge unfortunately.

Nine of them came in this summer so they have only been mis-managed for 2-3 months, if at all. Should all still be fully fit.

tbf  Vardas doesn’t have a problem with application. In my opinion he gives 100% just raw

Agreed, management need to start setting some examples just to waken up  the entire squad up.

Don’t get this at all

We’ve started 100% in Europe , why undo that good work

Got a real  chance of making some good money and having a feel good factor with more positive euro displays

we won’t be there next year - take what we can from Europe this year and let’s try enjoy it along the way

agree with the OP. Can’t believe at this point any rational person could disagree

the players have ruined their own opportunity at European football and now we need to be pragmatic.

league is the priority 100%. We are in real

trouble.  We have 5 points less than we did in the first week of November under Austin McPhee.  Having played a game more

rest players and rotate as many as possible in the next 3 fixtures.  Then go beat Petrocub.

I've also found myself wondering if Europe is worth it if we can't cope with the number of games, but then I find myself wondering why the hell footballers can't play 2 games in a week?

I think throwing fringe and young players to the wolves would not be the best plan. Destroy what confidence they may still have.

The problem is we're currently in a relegation scrap relying on a lot of young players.

Who are the veterans to drop? I'll agree with you on working in Tait over a Grant or Devlin. But there is no center half capable of playing right now at a good level. Forrester and Oyegoke are both young. There is no winger right now I want to bring up to play over Dhanda and Spittal. Beni is earning his spot.

I'd love to say, "Play the young lad!" but I don't see right now where that would help.

Yeah, but didn't someone on here say by the time we have paid for flights/hotels etc.. we are actually due UEFA money?

Not for me. With some activity in January and Critchley getting more time I believe we can be safe with a a good second half of the season. Any respectability in the league has gone already.

Go as far as we can in Europe to gain confidence and feel good around the club and throw everything at winning the Scottish cup.

Chucking Europe would be would destroying for the club.

I get air miles and hotel points on my credit cards. Happy to donate to the club if it’ll help

Not for me but I think the OP has a valid point with it.

We could end up putting a hell of a lot into the next three European matches and come away with zero.  Meanwhile we're storing up more and more demand on the same players.

Not for me.  I think we can take something from these games and greatly increase our chances of qualifying.  The fans need the feelgood factor of it.   But the OP's logic is sound enough.

Is this a worse take than the dafty saying Kent would walk into any team in the league right now?

we get £600k per win in europe so no we wont rest players for that ffs.

We get about £400K for a win.  I think it's 600,000 Euros.
