On Saturday 19th October, prior to Hearts home game against St Mirren, Community One Stop Shop’s annual foodbank collection will take place at Tynecastle Park.

Since 2012, Community One Stop Shop (
http://www.coss-broomhouse.org.uk/) has been assisting the residents of Broomhouse and its surrounding areas, offering essential groceries to families and individuals in financial crisis. Supported by donations of non-perishable food, they make a real difference to those living in poverty.

The collection will be supported by the Club’s charity, Big Hearts, and will be held between 12pm and 3pm with collection points at The Foundation Plaza and the Wheatfield Stand turnstiles, where donations can be handed in to the team of volunteers in attendance.

The following suggested items would be gratefully received:

• tinned items (meals, fruits, vegetables and puddings)
• cooking sauces (pasta, curry and stir fry)
• tea, coffee and biscuits
• cereals and rice
• toiletries

Many people find it difficult to support events like this in terms of finding the time to get donations along to a collection point etc so with the agreement of the JKB Board, we’ve once again set up a donations function to allow people to contribute financially to this worthwhile cause.

https://www.hmfckickback.co.uk/index.php?/donate/make-donation/

This will run from now until midnight on 31 October

The proceeds will be collected and once we have a final amount, the Community One Stop Shop will draw up a shopping list of much needed items.

JKB has a long and proud history of supporting many charitable causes and any contribution you can make will be much appreciated.

I’d like to thank the JKB Board for their valued advice and support and for agreeing to pick up the associated Paypal fees.

Thank you

Just donated. My son, also a Jambo was a volunteer there a while back. Shared a few hardship stories of his time there.

Just donated a 'standard' type of amount, but, hats off to @Dagger Is Back

"Above and Beyond", or what?

👏👏👏

Not at all matey.

An overseas Jambo was back in town in August and left me with £300 and told me that’s for the Foodbank appeal. They can’t donate themselves.

Cracking response as airways from JKB.

As @sac says there are some stories out there and that line between ‘I need help’ and ‘I’m alright’ is getting thinner and thinner.

EVERY single contribution whether it be goods on the day or cash donated makes a difference. Thank you Mikey for your contribution.

As this comes around every year I did my usual check of my kitchen cupboards in order to gather some things to bring along next week. Now either I have been careless the last few years or not as thorough or as attentive as I should have been and I found in my store cupboards,  admittedly mostly tin cans with best before dates going as far back as 2018. On the plus side I have a reasonable amount of stuff to bring along but also a heap of stuff to sort out for food recycling caddy along with a load of tin and glass to go to the recycling. Next year will be less onerous. Still debating whether to donate some cash or goods. Great cause I am proud to be a small part of.

It's the least I could do. 500+ views on this thread already.

Just a fiver from each would blast it.

In my mind's eye, I honestly imagined your 3 pledges as being a case of 'sausage fingers', but your explanation is sound, so much respect for your visitor.

Some folks get their shirts, some don't.

Only joshing, Dave.  🙃

I won't make the St Mirren match either so the Omonia game is the next opportunity. 😎

Very funny. 👆

That chimes with myself having only recently done a clear-out and discovered food-stuffs that wouldn't be out of place on an archeological dig.

Best tactic? Make a small £s donation and bring along some 'Extra Special' branded stuff from Asda.

That's my M.O.

Amazing!

🎶🎵🎶

There's a whole lot of loving going on, in our HEARTS
It's a feeling, I'm feeling through and through
There's a whole lot of missing every time we're away

But we'll stuff St M at home,

That's for sure.

£925 raised in 3 days is something else. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.

Every contribution either financially here or goods on the day will make a massive difference.

Too true.

Just a few coins into the buckets of the volunteers in lieu of a ½ pint would go a long way.

Bump

I'm gonna bring (amongst the sensible things) chocolate for the kids. I'd bring ice-cream ... but ... 🙈

Bump and a wee bit of explanation on my behalf:-
Saturday will be a bit of logistical nightmare so my donation will be going directly to the foodbank beforehand. I will add a cash donation too.

It’s a massive day tomorrow for COSS so hopefully they’ll be inundated with donations.

Thanks to everyone for stopping by with donations and cash today.

Young and old alike. A couple of notable visits for me on the plaza were George Foulkes and a couple of St Mirren supporters who came through from Paisley with some food to drop off.

Good effort everyone 👍

Massive thank you to everyone who has supported this years campaign either through food or monetary donations.

Our online donation link will stay open until 31/10 so if you haven’t got round to helping yet you still have time.

Saturday was a huge success and we’re only £170 away from a staggering £2000 raised.
