Yeah, funny choice of words.... it could mean £250k! 😳 If it's more... why didn't he just say "it's quite a bit more than that." Unfortunately, IMO, it just confirms whoever has leaked this, isn't too far off the mark.

Like another poster says, easily sorted, just offer him a new contract  - NC certainly appears to rate him. I'd certainly be happy with that.

Why would he even consider a new contract, 3 months after signing a new deal?

NC may see him as an important factor going forward - and doesn't want to lose him (for peanuts) while we're at the bottom of the table.

Unless, of course, he wants away.... but I never realy get that impression from Devlin.

Because Critchley is media trained and isn't going to just add further speculation to a situation he disagrees with in the first place.

Yep but unless there is any confirmation on this release clause he shouldn’t be getting any wage increase imo.

Ffs, NC said yesterday how he hoped the deal would go through, then said oh we could do with him on Sunday. Not many clubs would allow this situation, soft as per.

it's maybe been mentioned earlier in the thread, but - in this case anyway - could the "leak" have come from Cammy's agent, to either alert other clubs that there's a great bargain to be had or to give them a great lever to renegotiate Cammy's contract?

I know there have been other leaks recently, so no doubt there is someone employed by the club who hangs around Greggs a lot or is always on the 'phone in the Jolly Judge... ;)

😂 I know you love a dig at the club but Maybe the player had a say ? He isn’t going to risk a 2 year deal to play on Sunday ffs.  Nah it will be clubs fault.

Yeah... I think it's probably the agent for the reasons you give - no proof mind you! The next we'll hear from the club will be one of two scenarios (probably) -

1. Cammy has signed an 'improved' deal for 2 years.

or

2. Cammy has been sold for an 'undisclosed' sum.

You want us to start a player who knows he's got a deal going  through at FT and expect him to put his body on the line?

Are you for real?

I'm not sure if this has been shared before - great insight into how analytics is working at Royal USG

https://www.scoutednotebook.com/p/modern-renaissance-inside-usg

Excellent read. Definitely gives an insight to the whole approach and what we might expect in the next couple of years. Has clearly been a massive success and so far sustained. They would have won the top league twice since they were promoted in 21/22 if it were not for the weird play offs they do.

They have also made millions from player sales and had to essentially build the squad back up year on year without losing consistency and momentum.

Looking at their players you can see the pattern we have been talking about. Some brought in to succeed, move on and make the club money. Others who are more continuity players (like Brighton with the likes of Milner etc).

One example jumped out to me. Christian Burgess who was playing for Portsmouth in League 2 in England. They recruited him when they were still in the league below the top league. He is their key centre half performing well in an obviously higher league and in Europe. So a good example of the JTA approach finding players at lower levels that end up being excellent signings that fit with the team and style of play of USG.

if its inaccurate why would he leak the wrong amount, surely he should talk to the club about a new deal or got a better contract for his client less than a year ago. Have you seen the wages we pay for utter dross.

Not being good and blaming Hearts for not forcing him to sign a different contract with different terms are different things.

Oh, and yes signing a player for £30k and immediately putting a release clause in at £10 is too low.

Well done on clarifying that, ground breaking stuff, a real " gotcha" moment for you.

I like Boyce. Intelligent footballer and he's made a difference this past few games. That said, he will know at his age that his time will be limited at Hearts and this is likely a guarantee of much more playing time at the back end of his career as well as a move back home. I wish him all the very best..

Hes under contract ffs, he does what hes told or he’s here until the summer.Im positive he would’ve played if asked. You think the players should just decide when they want to play, or when they’re leaving?
You think it was arranged this week, hes been running his heart out these last three games and was needed tomorrow according to Critchley, who is soft as shit, will be manipulated easily by players and it will cost him his job eventually.

I'd imagine most players, if not all, would say to their coach that their heads not in the game so don't play me if they were in the least concerned about injury before a transfer. They all know that a player is just as likely, if not more so, to be injured when not trying as they are when they put everything into the game.

He hasn’t been worried the last three games, not sure the conversation even took place.
Lets hope it doesn’t affect us tomorrow.

Signing a pre contract is a completely different story to signing inside a transfer window.

And if Rowles is away what's the hold up?

I find it just daft to have let him leave before Aberdeen.

We’ve known for weeks/months what areas we needed to strengthen and what players we wanted to move on.

I really hoped we’d been a bit better organised and had more than 2 players lined up and ready to go on 1st January……we’re going into tomorrows match with a 17 year old and a player making his debut despite playing very little football this season.

This was always going to be a tough window……but I did expect a bit more to date.

I very much doubt the conversation took place, but if Rowles is in the least unsure about committing himself fully to the game I'm sure he'd approach Critchley and ask to be left out. It's the idea that a player would play in a game when afraid to get injured and ruin a lucrative transfer, rather than just tell his boss that he feels that way, as others are suggesting, that we are both countering here.

Hopefully we don't opt for square pegs in round holes again. I know Boyce wasn't a major player most of the season but we've looked better with him linking play.

I hope we are stronger after the window closes.
