PaddysBar
Great band. George Michael was an outstanding talent. Up there with Freddie and Bowie.

Wham were great when they came on the scene. George Michael was a brilliant talent. He was a fan of Roxy Music, especially Bryan Ferry so had good taste too! His voice was indeed outstanding but his songwriting was his biggest talent. Elton John was a great songwriter as well but I personally don’t think he was a great singer. And a thoroughly decent human being that gave huge amounts of money away. Often to complete strangers he met. I’m sure he gave Andrew Ridgely an o writing credit on Careless Whisper so he’d always have money from royalties even after Wham split up as they were such good friends. Elton's voice has the 'nails on a chalkboard' effect on me. He and Bernie are a marvellous songwriter duo but their songs sound so much better when sung by someone other than Elton. George Michael blows him off stage (oo-err, missus) in that duet about having your son go down on him and takes "Tonight" to a complete 'nother level when he covers that. He was a phenomenal musician. Wham! came about at the wrong time for me; I was all denims and hair, so "bubblegum" pop wasn't at all my scene but when George went solo and recorded Faith, it allowed me to track back and enjoy the Wham! stuff in retrospect. 1 hour ago, Tazio said: And a thoroughly decent human being that gave huge amounts of money away. I used to work with a lady who'd been at school with the two of them. Got snogs off them both. It wasn't appropriate for me to ask whether there were wet fingers involved.
