Who else gets gout?
Honestly worst thing ever. I get it usually 5/6 times a year for about a week.
any home remedies to help it out?

Only solution for me has been a daily intake of Allopurinol on prescription. Haven’t had a bout of gout since I started.

The posters recommending the drugs are on the money.  Unfortunately, if you have gout, that's the best option.  It's also worth checking with the GP anyway in case it's something other than gout that's causing you problems.

Yes.  300mg each and every day for the past 31 years, for me.

Touch wood, no flare-ups in all that time.

Been on alllopurin 3 years now and since I have got The dosage correct (300mg)  I haven’t looked back with regards to gout. Eat what I want and drink what I want.

Magical stuff and Imo the only sure fire way of stopping gout.

Always have a bottle of Colchicine handy just in case

Agree about the allopurinol. Cider vinegar rather than ordinary vinegar on the chips.

My mate used to get bouts of this, always said it was horrifically painful, like even the bedsheet touching his foot had him screaming in pain.

Crystals not being broken down or something?  Good luck!

It basically uric acid not being broken down the kidneys properly and thus it forms into crystals in the joints making them inflame. It is a condition called hyperuricemia.

As for the description of the pain that is spot on. I have dislocated my shoulder several times over my life and would prefer that pain any day of the week to a full gout attack.

Horrific.

Cherry juice worked for me in the short 'gout bout' i had - disgusting stuff though.

Agree it's very painful - wouldn't wish it on anyone, well almost anyone

Was in Italy for a week. Ate copious amounts of cheese and drank shit loads of wine not one hint of gout.

Last time I had a an attack was on the back of a battered “hamburger” chip roll from the chippy. 😂

Your body probably thought Italy was healthy compared to your usual square go.

I'm sure I read that 10% of those who get gout are women.

Def allopurinol……. It’s a god send! Took a while to work with me though. I only take 100mg per day. Have had the odd twinge but not full on flare ups.
