What if...Hearts v sheep final.

Probably unlikely but if it was could you imagine the tension?

Not only the cup at stake but European group stages.

Would be almost unbearable to lose.

No consolation prizes in that one. 🥸

Let's hope for a far better result than the last final between the Two teams.

Odd how Hearts and Aberdeen have always avoided each other at Hampden. 1996 win for us was iirc the only time since 86.

Bit like 2012 final - in that a victory would be absolutely magnificent but defeat unthinkable.

Given their form this season I’d be confident we’d pump them tbh - but really don’t think they have a hope in hell of beating Celtic. Their record at Hampden is dire.

Think you are correct - 96 was a weird occasion - from the lows of the equaliser to the high of Robbo’s winner - took us a minute to realise the goal was given.

Less said about 86 the better 😕

Yeah, I really wish it had set up with an OF semi because I think Rangers could have won that and I think we have a better shot of beating Rangers at this point than Celtic. Beating an OF team three times in a season is very hard for us to do.

The ultimate Hearts away jersey that as well. Argentina with maroon shorts. Sensational

Since Aberdeen are thoroughly incapable of beating us south of Dalmeny, I wouldn't be that worried.

Almost a forgotten semi due to what happened in the final.... but that victory was massive after so many semi final defeats. Especially against, not a vintage, but ok Aberdeen team.

The belief to come back after letting in that late equaliser was brilliant.

Robbo’s winner? Alan Johnston scored the winner.

would we have to give them a 50/50 split of tickets?  🤭

Last time in 86 I am sure there was 40.000 Jambos v 20,000 sheep.

Would never hear the end of that from sheep shagging mates.  I’ve been giving them it tight this season.

+ we owe Celtic one after 19/20

Hearts 3-1 Celtic in the final

It would mean we'd have beaten Rangers for the first time ever at Hampden. I'd expect us to be confident (not over-confident!) of winning the final 😁

Wonder if the SFA would sell 18k to each of us and hand the rest to blazers

Bazzas right boot

The team named first would win.

That's how Hearts v Aberdeen games are decided.

In the 90s  I actually wrote to the Daily Record who used to do a readers question piece on historical Scottish Football.  The answer I received was we officially got 35,000 tickets.

96 they sent tickets back. They only had about 8,000 in Hampden for a Saturday 3pm KO.

Celtic and Aberdeen are our last two rivals we’d love to beat in a Final to complete the set…if just for lasting memories to enjoy for all living JTs who saw their first trophy in 1998. 🇱🇻🏆

The 1996 win was a massive win psychologically for us IMO. It was a game that in the years before we'd have likely lost (think of the two semi defeats to Airdrie) and bouncing back from the equaliser showed great resilience. Although we got thumped in the final, we came very close in the league cup final later that year and of course we went on to win the SC in 1998. But that semi in 96 was a real turning point IMO.

I remember their support that day was awful.  Loads of sheep started leaving after we went 1-0 up then came rushing back when they equalised only to see our winner.  Great day.

I understand the tension (does any cup final come without that?) but come 3pm on Cup Final day I would much rather be kicking off against relegation play off contenders Aberdeen than facing the need to win in Glasgow against one the uglies for a 3rd time this season.

Focus on winning the cup, do that and Europe takes care of itself.

I was thinking the same lines as the op. Trouble is Celtic are  vulnerable  and Aberdeen might have a new  manager  and get the  NMB.

Hearts fans were in tears leaving the ground. We knew we had just cleared a massive psychological hurdle, and a cup win wasn't too far away.

It would be like that match at Tynie when we played them and secured a Champions League spot.

We could even reprise Takis Fyssas's song just for bantz.

It comes towards the end of this clip.

Enjoy!

Would anyone care about the result?

If we are not in the right end or the tickets are not 50/50 would it even matter?

For anyone whose first cup was 1998 I said, bud.   My old man was at the 1956 final and left this world having saw Hearts win 10 major trophies.🏆

I’m on 3 like thousands 👍🏻

Dream final really would would much rather play Aberdeen despite the risk of losing it all.As a good performance against Aberdeen and we would be strong favourites to win the cup imo , against Celtic or especially Rangers we could play very well and still conceivable loose as has happened frequently the last few years.
