Wonky Pub full rebuild ordered

Cade

Recommended Posts

After the scandal of the Crooked House pub being closed down, set on fire then demolished all within a week or so, the county council have ordered the entire structure to be rebuilt, brick for brick.

Multiple arrests have been made on various charges, from arson to insurance fraud to illegal demolition, perverting the course of justice and various health&safety breaches.

They will have no problems hiring "trades men" to rebuild it, going by the builders I've hired in the past😳 most of their best work is wonky at the best of times🤬

If carlsberg did rivals...

Would it not be difficult to build something wonky and safely at the same time?

Will they sue if it turns out straight? I reckon the couple will just ignore the order and then the Council will be like "um how do we enforce this?"

Exactly, a complete nonsense.

Certainly, hammer the owners for for the illegal demolition, insurance fraud, etc.

If the order is ignored the council will impose heavy financial punishments until the order is carried out.
A demolished pub in London was completely rebuilt under similar circumstances.

Doesn't really matter if the owners ignore the council order, as either way it's going to cost them a fortune.

Ignore the order and they'll never be able to do anything with the land such as build anything else on it or even sell it whilst the order is in place or they have to build a new wonky building, either way the owners are screwed and even more so if charges are brought.

Whatever plans they had for the land literally went up in smoke the day the pub burnt down.

Yep.   Why is the council demanding that the owners rebuild it anyway ?  Was it a tourist landmark or something ?  Looked more like a potential death-trap.

The owners should definitely be prosecuted for insurance fraud/theft and any other council orders & laws they ignored  before they demolished it though.

The Polish don't appear to think so.

Ha ha - that's in Sopot, seaside town near Gdansk. I strolled past it a good few years back. It's been there 20 years.
