Ministryofdad
Hey guys Size 11. Just currently recovering from a dose of whatever was going about. Whatever it was gave me a massive flair up of inflammation / gout in my feet. This resulting in having constant pain in both my feet whenever I am out and about including working or standing for a long time. Just wondering if anyone else has similar issues and what they can recommend re footwear.

I'm always more comfortable in whatever trainers I have to hand, and the brand doesn't seem to make a blind bit of difference. But I recently went to my GP who prescribed me Diclofenac gel, which has eased my soreness a fair bit. Just a thought.

On allopurinol daily until I die to control uric acid levels. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It's knowing what triggeres it. Would love to say its fun finding out but it's the complete opposite 😭😭😭 Sketchers look like the best option I've seen so far

Lone Striker
Mrs S used to have regular soreness in her feet. Its improved ever since a specialist recommended a better type of shoe to improve her gait. Basically, anything that didn't have a right-angled flat heal, but had a slight upward-pointing toe - to accentuate the correct "roll" your foot should do when walking - heel first, then rolling until your toes touch down just as your heel is rising A shoe like this - SKetchers are expensive, but anything with that profile performs the same function. SHe got a pair of leather shoes from Wider Fit Shoes online and finds them a big improvement. Hope that helps.

periodictabledancer
I have swollen feet/ankles often due to medication. As my feet are on the wide side anyway brands like adidas are a no-no. I've been wearing Skechers for few few years as they have a wide-ish fit and are very light/soft/comfortable. A bonus being they make shoes that don't look like trainers. Canscot
Count me in the Skechers gang. Been wearing them for a number of years now due to neuroma’s on the nerves on the soles of my feet. They come in standard, wide or extra wide sizes. I just bought a new pair of their “Slip-in” style today actually. I also have a pair I wear only indoors as we have hardwood and tile throughout the house. A godsend on hard floors.

The pain is located in my feet if that makes sence. Right in the middle of both of them. Only thing that stops the constant pain is a cocktail of colchicine and Co codamol. Got doctors again on Monday so hopefully they can send me somwhere to fix it. Woke up this morning and I literally couldn't stand or walk until the drugs kicked in and took away the pain. Doctor said I was walking like an 80 year old man. I'm 41 wtf. And now, the end is near.......

I decided many years ago I rate comfort WAY ahead of a fashion statement. As you say. Styles have vastly improved over the years.

I agree with the sketchers and crocs suggestion but I’ve also got a pair from Fitville that are good. I think again it’s the wide fit. I think the width for shoes is the important thing as well as the cushion on the soles too ..flat shoes are a no no really . I always have sore feet the next day after wearing my tan Brogues for special events . But needs must when you want to look smart for a special event 😎 Edited February 25 by JudyJudyJudy

I was at my most athletic and healthy living when I first got my first bout of the gout. I genuinely thought I had broken my foot during a workout without know and didn’t bother getting it diagnosed. I hate being on them but it’s either that or pain . It took me over a year and half to get diagnosis as they were ruling out other things . I thought I’d end up in a wheelchair but as yet I’m not too too bad and still get out and about so don’t get too worried ( if it is a form of arthritis ?) . Yes as me and my mates say getting older doesn’t come itself ! 😂but better than the alternative.

For over a week I was unable to even walk. Crawling about on my hands and knees and having to piss in a bucket because I couldn't put any weight on my feet My right ankle is still swollowen and purple My left foot is getting there along with my left knee. I ended up in hospital last Thursday into Friday where I was prescribed steroid premislone for a week to take away all the swelling in my joints. It hit both my feet. Ankles, both knees. Was taking naproxin, colchicine, paracetamol nothing was touching it. Had doctor out to the house twice before going up to hospital. Still no idea what's triggered it only thing was I had a bad viral infection week previous (3 weeks ago) Did a full week at work last week but my feet were shot come Saturday. Sketchers will be here tomorrow so praying they give me some kind of comfort. Doctor called from this morning. I have to go see them tomorrow morning before I go to work. Being self employed I can't afford to take the time off required to recover. Even with income protection insurance. Moan the sketchers
