If carlsberg did rivals...

I'm not particularly tech savvy so if I try to attach clips here it will likely end in tears, however have a look for Arnold Brown, first ever winner of Perrier comedy awards, now a very old man, I saw him at the stand about 24ish years ago, easily the best stand up I've seen live and that list includes Billy Connoly and Kevin Bridges.

That's the guy, thanks, I was watching the young ones recently and he pops up in a couple of episodes, as did French and Saunders, Hale and Pace, Fry and Laurie, Paul Merton, Robbie Coltrane, Tony Robinson, Emma Thompson and Gérard Kelly to name quite a few!

I P Knightley

Arnold Brown did an after-dinner set at a corporate do I go to most years. This would have been maybe 17-18 years ago.

He was dreadful. By far the worst comic I've seen. I felt pity for him as he completely lost the room.

Slightly reminiscent of Chic Murray, who was another droll comedian and a guy Billy Connolly regards as the funniest comedian he ever saw.

Dave Allen was a brilliant comedian, but I wouldn't call him droll.  Ahead of his time though in my opinion.

No I don't think he would have appreciated being called a Scot.

oooft - I’ve had dental work funnier than this. All for Scottish comedy but that makes Mrs Browns Boys look like the American Office. It’s a no from me.
