Rawrrrrrrr
Following on from the other thread I thought it would be interesting to see how people rate our individual players as contracted to hearts at the moment in division rates I.e upper SPL, Lower SPL, Above SPL, 1st Div, 2nd Div , 3rd Div , Juniors etc etc Current ability first, possible potential in brackets for the next few years I have included all over age for u19 players and those apparently "promoted" GK Steve Banks - Lower SPL (Retirement) Anthony Basso - Lower SPL (Lower SPL) Jamie Macdonald - First division ( Lower SPL) Harry Bjorrnson First Division ( SPL) RB Robbie Neilson - Upper SPL (Upper SPL) Jason Thomson - First division ( Lower SPL) Sean Kelly - 2nd Division (Unsure possibly SPL) John Armstrong - Lower leagues (First Division) Johnny Brown - 1st Division ( SPL) LB Lee Wallace - Upper SPL (Premiership) Marco Pelosi - first division (first division) Matty Park - first division (SPL) CH Berra - SPL - Premiership Karapidis - SPL - SPL Zaliuckas - Lower SPL - Upper SPL Alan Lithgow - lower leagues (lower leagues) David Armstrong - Lower Leagues (lower leagues) McGowan - SPL - Premiership Rapnik first division - (SPL/Premiership) RW Iva - lower leagues (lower SPL) Doherty - lower leagues (SPL) Miko - SPL -(upper SPL) Chesney - SPL - (upper SPL) Mackle- lower leagues - lower leagues LW Driver - SPL (Premiership) Audrey - Lower SPL -(Eastern europe) CM Stewart - SPL - Lower SPL Kingston - Premiership (premiership) Ruben - SPL - SPL Bruno - Lower SPL - ( upper origins of a more technical league) Eggert - SPL- Top CL team Husband - first div/lower SPL - Top SPL Screpsis - first div- lower SPL CF Glen - SPL- Premiership Elliot - Lower SPL- Upper SPL Mole - Lower SPL - Upper SPL Nade - SPL - SPL if can get fit The one thing that is clear is that we have lots of potential, sadly it all seems to be wasted, for me this squad really cant do much at the moment though, we need a few quality players and quick
Bert Le Clos
We have no players above SPL class. Banks, Berra, Karapidis, Kingson, Palazuelos and Driver are upper SPL class. Miko, Chesney and Nade on their day could be put in the same category. Robbie, Zal, Wallace, Goncalves, Stewart, No. 28, Audrey, and Mole are lower SPL class. Elliot is 1st division. Glen and Johnsson look like they could be upper SPL class. Besliga, Aguair, Screpis and Makela I haven't seen enough of to comment. Same goes for the reserves/U-19s. Bert Le Clos
Eggert - SPL- Top CL team Steady. He looks like he has the potential to be a good player, but to say he has the potential to play for Man U or Barcelona is taking it waaay to far. Obviously my opinion but he could if he wanted, an absolutly class player in the making under the right manager The worse thing is despite the averageness of our squad we pay upper championship/lower Premiership wages to far too many of them as opposed to wages based on there level
Bert Le Clos
Obviously my opinion but he could if he wanted, an absolutly class player in the making under the right manager - Fair enough it's your opinion. I think he could be a class SPL player, maybe with the potential to play in the EPL for a Wigan or a Fulham. But I don't think he'll ever get near Essien, Gerrard or Xavi standard. The worse thing is despite the averageness of our squad we pay upper championship/lower Premiership wages to far too many of them as opposed to wages based on there level - Agree with you completely on this. There's a frist time for everything!

A different test would be to ask who you think might make the Scotland squad if they were Scottish. I'd say Larry definitely, if he had his head straight (and I think that's a big if). He's a regular starter for Ghana, and I'd fancy Ghana to turn Scotland over in a competitive game. Nade on ability, but probably not on attitude unless he grows up. Berra maybe, on the basis that central defenders take time to mature. Driver if he could keep injury free and learn to make better decisions. Jonsson might have the potential. Far too early to tell with Glen and a number of the other youngsters.

Samster
Prancer, I take it you watch a lot of the reserve/u21 games? I'll have to admit I don't but my boss trains one of the youth teams at Riccarton and he's a huge fan of Johnny Brown. Certainly rated higher than 1st div though i realise this is just opinions. Also, the couple of times I saw Screpis last season I was reasonably impressed. However, I realise that we saw so much dross that when someone raised their game just one notch we all wet ourselves!! Ive watched a share in the past but not so much recently. Jonny brown is very talented but I think like many of our youths they are overhyped and overpressured by the fans far too earlier looking for any ray of comfort from the disaster zone that is our club Brown imo could not walk into an SPL team and play every week at the moment although he definitly has the potential to do so in the next few years
Rawrrrrrrr
Also Lee Wallace as premiership standard :conf11: Imo under the right management and coaching he does have the potential to go onto that level. For me neilson and wallace get a far too hard time from our fans and both are at the moment very good SPL players, in wallace's case he is still a good few years off his peak and imo could play at a far higher level. A fact that hasnt been lost on the OF managers who have shown interest

bighusref
Interesting question. The sad answer is that there are too many players that I do not see as capable of improving. We DO have a decent-ish batch of young players that given the right coaching and effort would improve, as to what standard who knows. Get rid of the players that cannot or will not improve and start from there.

Well if you'd read further you'd have seen him - imo - over-praising half the squad. But it wouldn't be Kickback if people let facts get in the way of their pronouncements Prancer takes things too far a lot of the time, but better a bit of cynicism at the moment than this sudden belief that the appointment of some guy from Uganda no-one had heard of a fortnight ago automatically means Europe next season.
