Rupert Pupkin
Whether you were a fan of UltraSonic, Public Domain etc , or not, the Scottish dance scene has lost a giant… He was diagnosed with terminal cancer not long ago, he didn’t get long..😢😢 RIP Mall.. trotter
Yeah, it was only a couple (3?) weeks ago he announced it. Global Tekno still one of my all-time favourite albums. RIP Mal.

Yeah, 4 weeks, he got no time at all, I suppose it’s a blessing, no suffering for ages.😢😢😢

Aye, i was going to say the same. The Tom Wilson show was that good that people from England used to drive as far north as they could, just to get a signal. I always wondered if he was related to our own Scott Wilson.

I was at a party in Coatbridge one night and a couple of younger lassies there said they were going to go to a club later but it was closed for the night because the DJ died. I asked who the DJ was, half taking the piss and ready to act faux-surprised when they told me the name. They said "Tom Wilson" and I almost jumped out my seat. "Tom Wilson's dead?". Turns out they thought I was taking the piss anyway cos they didn't know who he was. Extended Old Skool Anthems that weekend while drinking away my hangover. I don't know I'm getting reeled in here but are they not brothers? The two of them are interviewed in the 98 Cup Final video.

That looks like one seriously weird night. Folk sitting at round tables having a fancy meal while some radges bounce about on a stage with metal grinders playing hardcore. Greedy Jambo
Annihilating Rhythm parts 1 and 2 were always my favourite, but i've played them that many times that i can't be bothered with them now 😆

Rupert Pupkin
Didn’t really get the love for Tom Wilson, I used to leave Rez when he came on, and only occasionally listened to “Stepping Out” .. Scott used to live up the road from me, my mum used to cut his wife's hair. Scott Crabbe used to live about 100 yards from there too. Aye both came from Niddrie originally, Stepping Out was the only place you got that kind of music at the time, can't listen to it now but it was very much a part of everyone's life back then. Without speaking ill of the dead, TW wasn't an especially good DJ, technically speaking at least. If you go back and listen to any of his sets now, his mixing was all over the place. Still loved listening to him though!!

Used to bump in to him from time to time but haven't seen him in, well, decades probably. 😀 Used to DJ about a bit myself back then so met most of the names and faces on the circuit at one point or other. Sort of fell out of love with the scene during the happy hardcore years as Ultra Sonic were peaking. Can't argue with their contribution, though. RIP ML. Thoughts with his friends and family.
